Get off my lawn!

I will never brag about a toilet repair or any repair ever going super easy ever again. Since the toilet repair the Elky transmission started leaking. Then the sprinkler system I put in 21 years ago with no issues at all suddenly had a major issue. The breaker blew in the middle of the afternoon. The system was not running at all, just in standby mode.
We have the Koi pond running off of the same circuit and it is on a ground fault plug. That stopped running so investigation I found the sprinkler controller had no power. Then I found the breaker was tripped. Lots of thinking and checking I finally found the connection for the koi pond was packed full of ants. Evidently they decided the wires might be a tasty snack. It fried some wires buried deep under several garden plants. I designed the system before there was a koi pond. That was added, and then of course a full garden of plants long after I built the system. I knew the koi pond was coming, so I added the outlet to run the pond pump and just guessed where it was going to be needed. Evidently the ants made a nest in the conduit and managed to short it out. First I mowed the yead, then while in my yard clothes, I started digging up the koi pond connection. I did not come inside until 3:30 our time. I have to get the trenches filled back up as a major rain storm is on the way tomorrow night. Golly gee, home-ownership is fun.

Yea, it is pretty easy to just stop working as long as the finances are squared away. Most folks really like to eat and sleep in a bed. I sure do. Today, I play electrician, and get the wires replaced. Hopefully before the rain.
It is supposed to have lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s for the next two days. A real change from the heat.

We had good weather all weekend. Upper 60s low 70s. Took the kids kayaking on the lake. Yesterday we paddled a couple miles around the shore looking at stuff. Nice to get away from everyone for a bit.
Jeff, welcome back to the work week!

Phew, most of yesterday and until 1:00 PM today and the sprinkler system is back in operation.
The Russian Sage and I are not friends. Dang Russians. It is right on top of where I needed to dig. And is it full of honey bees. And as I was wiring up the connections the sage bush attacked my arm. I was bleeding like a stuck pig. I left my workbench a total mess. It is still 91 degrees and a heat index of 99 right now. Tonight the cold front gets here, and we are dropping to the 40s with a high of mid 60s. For some reason, that sounds a lot better temps to clean up the workbench.

I'm not as skilled as you, Glen. I'm paying someone to come install a new sprinkler system in my front yard next week. I accidentally hit a gusher when I was putting in a fence last summer. The existing sprinkler system is so old, it's all supercorroded and rusted galvanized pipe. Beyond salvage. So I could spend a few weekends digging and laying pipe, only to find out I have now idea what I'm doing. Or I can pay a professional to do ot in a day, and have it work. These past 3 weeks of triple-digit days helped me make that decision.

One thing for sure, I will never install another sprinkler system. I knew what I wanted, and I had a couple of places quote a price. In the end, I am glad I did it myself, as I have what I want and I know who to blame when I have a problem. I over-designed and overbuilt the system. It is nice to have a water well and not have to worry about water rationing.
As an old geezer it was had work digging down to the issue and it was hot sweaty work. My forehead just spews sweat. I have a big absorbent headband, and I have so much sweat I can't wear my glassed or they get covered in sweat. I suck down water like crazy. I am glad it is mostly done.

Wow, the front has arrived. It was 91 degrees just a couple of hours ago. It is 65 and dropping now. Amazing.

I’m out at the airport today. Quite a few aircraft being mothballed since the world turned to 5hit.
There’s some doubt the A380’s will ever fly again.

Yea, the giant aircraft are really not in favor now. If Boeing had not shot themselves in both feet and ankles with the 737 MAX problems they would be in in great shape.

Moring all. After a 3 day weekend of moving things around the house mother nature decided on a wind storm. The result no power till late in the day and no internet till then either. Had to play catch up on work.

Yesterday we tied the coldest low temperature for the day at 50 degrees. We smashed the recorl low high temp for the day. In the past the high temp for the day was 67, we were only up to 55 yesterday. It is 50 again today, and we may break a new record low high temp today.
When I finished up in the garage on Tuesday I just left the crap where it was. I was beat, and it was in the high 90s heat index. Today with the temps in the 50s, I will go put my tools away in comfortable temperatures.

Morning all. I think we are to hit the 90's today. Lots of smoke in the air so not fun going outside.

Our fire danger level is zero right now. We had 2 inches of rain yesterday and more expected today. Things are kinda soggy here.
Having seen some of the photos of the east coast states is is just terrible for the residents out there. Fire insurance must be expensive and only going to go up.

I would imagine it is right now. The past few days have been no fun at all.

This week could not get any worse. Monday into Tuesday power out, Tuesday into today lots of smoke in the air and now the office network is down.

It's been in the 90s or 100s for about the past 3 weeks straight. This weekend in Da Valley it was 113-115. Tuesday I drove to work in Oxnard, a coastal, mostly agricultural town about 45 miles to the north. It was overcast and drizzly. How wonderful!
