We had a warm weekend and the grass is tall and green, but since it has been raining all weekend it is not cut.

I got some almost funny spam this last few days. They said my American Express (which I do not have) needed me to log in and accept a raise in my credit limit. Our company is all pre-approved for a line of credit, just long and the money is mine. One company can lower my mortgage rate, but that is gonna be hard since I have no mortgage. Of course my car warranty has now expired, but they will extend it if I call now.

Some of it was email, some text messages, and some just crap phone calls. I just wish I could inflict a kick to the nuts on each of them.

The mean boss's wife had me out washing the windows. We only did the few on the north side (front) of the house, and as a bonus the storm door for the front door.

I noticed my 911 and the flag through the window. No staging, just take a photo of one of the windows into the garage. Normally I keep the blinds down and closed, but they were up for the cleaning.

I may have to recreate that shot with evening or at night so the reflection in the window is eliminated. Likely I never will, but I might get inspired.

Back at my bachelor pad, back when I had just bought my first house I set up a Hassleblad with long exposure professional color negative film. I shot a series of photos, (12 photos per roll of film) at dusk, with the interior lights on, and the garage open showing my 914. I spent hours setting up the shot, and processed it, and made 8x10 prints that really have the different colors of the light of the car, to the house, and even with the the long exposure film designed for 3,880K lights it was reddish. It was December 1st 1980 and cold, I am in the photo wearing a heavy coat. I may have to dig out the print and scan it. Now, with my cell phone I could take a better photo with ease, point and shoot.

Wow, what a pretty day. Light breeze, and clear skies and it is just now getting to 72 and the humidity is nice and low. I got the yard all mowed and edged and cleaned up.

Mrs Carrera has a whirligig that the post is just shot. It is a weird size of post, and threaded pieces to connect it. I had to go get a 1 inch galvanized pipe, drill a hole through it, and the old pipe, then a second hole at 90 degrees through both poles. Two bolts and nuts, cinch down tight, and listen to Rolling Stones and paint it black. Ta Da. It ain't the prettiest repair, but it is 10 times stronger than the old pole was when it was new.

Time for a shower.

No such luck here. We were outside at 8:15 cleaning the outside of the house, and all the windows on the east and north side. Then she hosed down the walls, the garage doors, and we had to take down the Levelour blinds in the garage and hose them down, clean scrub off all bug debris, and then when dry hang them back up.

I think she was trying to see if the water bill can go up even higher if she can wash the sidewalks and the bricks on the house. It was a cleaning fury.

Yea, I gotta make a beer run in a little while, after the lunch rush crowd is back at work. He may have to buy me a 6 pack of something special.

At Eagles Canyon race track, as always I just pulled up in my car, and unloaded my luggage, and ice chest, and the floor mats, and double checked the tire pressures. I was likely the slowest car there with just 200 HP, street tires, and 100% analog car. I had just as much fun as the rest of the drivers.

One of the other guys that ran that day unloaded his 911 GT3RS, and the 911 GT3 from his simi-tractor, or more accurately his pit crew and son did the work. It looked like a truck from a Penski race team full of tools and tires and spares. The dad with the checkbook drove the RS, the son was forced to have to drive the GT3. His other son drove there in his F-350 with a Ferrari 430 on a trailer.

I was on the track as a passenger on a "taxi" ride with an instructor in a BMW track car that was fast. The two GT3 passed us and within a few laps were 1/2 a lap in front of us.

I have never been on the track and probably never will. But I would always help out track side if needed.

Should we be prepared to be be thread-less? I had to reload the page and then I got an email that I had posted the above about the track. I never get those.

David, the groups I run with are small. 20 to 25 people total, and the run groups are in split into 3 or 4 groups. Most of the time I am basically on track by myself. I do not go nuts and totally avoid the red mist and doing stupid stuff. It is just so much fun to drive the car as fast as you can possibly go. You know for sure there are no speed limits, no kids running out into the road, and it is safe.

I explain it like getting to drive as fast as you can, and if someone was behind you chasing you with a gun and wanting to shoot you if they caught you, you could not go any faster. Running to red line on every shift, braking as hard as possible as late as possible, and letting the car just do what it was made to do. My face always hurts on the drive home from all the smiling on track.

I do NOT try to shift super fast, I avoid pushing so hard I will go off track. I keep it to 90% of the possible performance. There is no trophy, no glory, just go have fun. With a basically stock 37 year old car there is no chance to be really fast. But is sure is fun and not expensive.

Redneck as in missing teeth lol.
It is a good trans for rebuilding at the track, no jigs required.
When I first rebuilt it some redneck had used a piston ring from a lawnmower as a spacer.
Road America is on the bucket list, just a long tow and then you have accept one day might be a rain out.
Wife spraying simple green in my hair to get the grease out.
