I can go 500 miles in my 85 911 on one take of gas if I drive just the speed limit. I have done it many times. If I kick it up the average speed most everyone is going it drops to 450 miles.

On the track, I can lower that to 8 MPG. Almost all WOT, or on the brakes, and at Charlotte Super speedway for a HPDE I was hitting 130 or so, and I used 3/4 of my 21 gallon tank in three 20 minute sessions on track.

On road trips with the wife, like the trip to Lake Placid and back, 3,800 miles total distance. It is pretty much 24 hours of driving each way. With the wife on board, we broke it up into three days. Two days were 9 hours and one 6 hour day. If I had gone solo, I would do two 12 hour days and save motel costs.

I know if I want to go to Flagstaff, AZ to the great hotel, it is 911 miles from my door to their door. There are a many stops for bladder relief. Once I get to I-40 which is just a few miles from my house, it is easy navigation. Just stay on I-40 the entire trip.

3800 is a lot, especially as one gets older
I used to be fine with 1500 km on my own, just knock it out of the park then hit the pub

Those days are OOOVER
Le mans return trip 1000 km kicked my butt.

It was a 12 day trip for the 3,800 miles.

Next year is Boise, ID. Only 3,500 miles or so round trip.

Tags for the Cobra are Hobbyist plates. $275.

One time fee and there are restrictions. I can't drive it in January. Would be a little cold with no top or side windows anyway here in WI.

The 1971 911 were Collector plates one time fee. Similar restrictions.

My insurance on the 911 is Agreed value, for 5 times what I paid for the car. I have agreed value on the El Camino for just a bit more than I paid for it back in 1991. It has restrictions that I can't drive it to work. Since my commute is 12 steps down the hall that is not much of a restriction.

Also I have a mileage restriction of 5,999 miles per year. Again, not much of a restriction for me with no commute.

any illusions bout atlas grey metallic nog been black and perhaps being a bit more forgiving for dirt are GONE

it shows everything.. finger prints
streaks of water & dust from when i used window washers
a fly that farted in its vincinity.

it all shows

But it is gorgeous when its clean.. there is no doubt..
I have accepted that I will have to up my game.
and probably spend some cash on a pro ceramic coating job

That is what is so great about white cars. Especially with a fresh ceramic coating on it. At parade in Lake Placid, NY it rained every day except Tuesday. I never washed my car in the 12 days of driving, and it still got compliments on how clean it looked.

Back when I had the Lotus, I insured it with whichever collectible agency USAA routed me to. They had the option of 12,000 miles per year for about a 10% bump in price. Being able to basically DD it was kinda nice.
