Sounds like fun G.
We are going to Tulsa this weekend. I'll be receiving a scholarship check at the Oklahoma Sign Association banquet... We will be looking at several BMWs as well this weekend! |

Lol, is that what I think it is??
Is there really an association of people who make sign??? That's strange.

the S needs some secondary cat bypass pipes, I've determined.
Fabspeed pipes are 450$, for something that I could have tig'd up at my old shop in about 2 hours. I hate not living in a machine shop anymore.

Most professions in the US have associations... Its a good resource. The trade show gives us a chance to view new products. There have been times that the association has rallied to stop laws that would have been bad for the sign industry...

Well... For starters my dad is a member of this association, seeing as he owns a sign company....
Dad is a a past president, and he was one of the guys that wanted to start a scholarship fund... That was back in the late '90s. Now they have a scholarship fund and I'm getting $1,000 from them.... ![]() Along with 17 other people. |

I am fully aware of that.... That money will get deposited into the account that I pay for all my school stuff out of... Car parts come out of the cash I keep next to my spoon in the safe...
Speaking of car parts... Guess who ordered a big 'ol box of delrin bushings and stiff torsion bars today? ![]() Night chaps...

Morning, guys!
For what its worth, I could not be more happy with my budget, second hand BMW. A 320 from 1998. One previous owner and only 35k miles. As new. Love those smooth running six cylinders, although mine is a small 2.0L with only 150 bhp.

Morning.
The airplane I flew yesterday had about 160 bhp, but only 4 cylinders.

Put your car on a diet and it'll really be fun.

Good morning dudes.
I had to drive my 911 to work again today. My insurance agent is meeting me here and he will take pictures of my car. Since the car is now 25 years old it qualifies for the insurance company “chrome” policy. It can only be driven 10,000 miles a year which is not much of a restriction for me since I average 5 to 6 thousand miles per year. It can’t be used as my daily driver but it is OK to drive it to work a few times a month. The policy is a fixed value policy. It will be insured for 4 grand more than I paid for it 14 years ago. That is a cool toy, over one hundred autocrosses; several track days and numerous road trips and it is still worth more than I paid for it.

So far I have not been able to keep a car more than 4 years. So little time, so many cars.
Up until the last couple of years I only had one car at a time and whatever I was driving I was daily driving. The last few years I've been fortunate (fiscally able) enough to have a sports car and a daily driver. This may change my car retention habits. I probably would have kept my 944 Turbo if the darn thing would have stayed running longer than a month at time. The 928 has been pretty reliable and not required too much shop time so it may be a keeper. There are a few neat projects I would like to do on the 928 and both of those would make it much more attractive as a keeper. One is to put the 928 GT cams in it. I am told the GT cams have more duration and will produce 30 more hp. The other is to replace the stereo HVAC section of the console with a car computer and touch screen. I would love to have all the modern GPS/Stereo stuff, tuning software like "Fast and Furious", and track data acquisition all right there in the dash. The only thing I don't like about my 928 is that there is just not a good place for a cup holder.

Since 1972 I have owned just 5 cars. I still own two of them. I have had my El Camino since 1991. I bought the 911 in 1995. I have not had a car payment since 1997.
That does not count my wife's cars. Even if my name is on the title I don't really think of them as mine. My insurance agent just left. Since it’s around 100 degrees outside I pulled my 911 inside the office. We stood in nice air conditioning and I showed him the car. My insurance for the 911 will be right at 250 bucks a year. The value of the car is set. No argument on value of the car. I guess it helps to have three cars and a house insured with him.

When I had my 944 Turbo a guy in Vegas said he did the agreed value insurance on his 944 Turbo. It has all kinds of custom stuff/paint and was one of the first 944 Turbos to reach 400 rwhp. Policy was for unlimited miles, covered for racing/track days, agreed value was $60,000, and cost was $3000/year. It was with Farmer's and he had to take the car to a custom car appraiser.'
I though the unlimited miles and that the policy included racing and track use was very odd. But guess that is why it was $3000/year instead of $250.
