I wish. Boots need to be tried on. It's not right to go to a local store to fit, then buy from another place online (for anything). I've "demo'd" skis before, that's how I ended up with my current pair, but I've never heard of demoing boots. Rental boots just suck - unless, you are a beginner..

Argh, it snowed on my Porsche. Well, at least I know the rear window defroster works.

Sorry. Didn't realize you were referring to boots. I thought you HAD boots and needed skis....

So still not much of the white stuff up at Mammoth, huh? We still have that weekend at the condo pending. I thought we could take the kids skiing.

Here is my boot.

And recorded proof of my top speed for today.

Alarick, Cornice was open, but only because they can make snow up there. Unfortunately it was only the center of the bowl and no bumps. I'll post a few pix that I took of the mountain.

Chair 3, McCoy Station and the holding pond for snow making.

That pond should be totally white with snow and the surrounding area.

The roads here are fine... Its just up around OKC... Its going to be cold as balls tomorrow, but I have no classes. I need to go to the bookstore and the library, but I'll wait till the warmest part of the day to do that... Otherwise I will stay by the heater.

Alarick (and D). Mammoth did away with the tickets we are all used to seeing. We were issued RFID cards yesterday and now there are gates - almost like starting gates for racing - at the bottom lifts. The card is in your pocket and if you have paid for a ticket, either online or at a window, the gate opens for you. The person that would normally scan your ticket now has a screen that shows your info as you go through the gate. Since I've had a season pass in the past, they had a picture of me on file and now the person can check if it's really me. The card and its number is mine for life now. I think it's pretty cool.

RFID stuff is getting good. I have a little sticker on the windshield of the car that is RFID... When I drive under the sensor on the toll roads in OK it knows it is me, and deducts the proper toll from my account balance....

Sticker is like 3x3 and and has one spot that is a bit thicker, I've yet to go too fast for it to read, and the sensor is high enough up there that trucks pass under it...

I hear they are going to eventually be able to track where we ski. Not the exact runs, but what chairs are used. That can be good or bad. I don't think I mind. I do wonder what happens when you get your "ticket" revoked for doing something stupid.

With that RFID tag in your pocket, its just a matter of placing the sensors there....

I think that would be too costly. You'd have to have a lot of sensors. How about all the "runs" through the trees, their not on the map.

I think you'd have to hand in your card.... At least for now. In the past, you could just buy another ticket or have a friend buy one.

I was talking about the tracking...

Yes, I have no clue how they'd handle a miscreant....
