Aren't the SCCA autocross championships held in Nebraska? (Or some other equally flat state in the middle of the country?)

The Runoffs were at Heartland Park, Topeka Kansas. Moved there from Mid-Ohio I believe. Or was it Road America? I think they are going back to Elkhart Lake now.

That's cool. I have facebook since it is useful for some things. I only joined in order to see Kundensport's photo album of their projects like the 917. I use it very little. This and the Early 911S Registry are the only places I really chat, though I do occasionally on flickr.

The funny thing is that my Mom's side of the family (which is most of my aunts and uncles since my Dad only has one sister) take relationships rather slowly. The men are very afraid of commitment and though they are settled down they are not married. My Mom's only sister, though went the opposite way and that branch of the family is, uh, a little turbulent. My cousin who is the same age as me is her grandchild
and is getting married this summer. Married?! At my age? ![]() Unfortunately I do not see the marriage lasting very long, though I don't know her. They met at some burger joint where they both worked. He has a history of flunking school and bouncing around rough neighborhoods and between households. He did join ROTC and that straightened him out, so I will hope for the best. But I definately take after my Mom's brothers.

Thats actually pretty common around here. I have something like 6 friends getting married this year or next..... And I expect that number to rise....

I should clarify, I have no trouble with commitment, I just don't really have any serious interest in relationships that I know will not work out in the long run. I'd rather wait for "The One".

I used to say that, but I'm starting to think, whats so wrong with it not being forever, if it makes you happy? I mean would you rather be with someone and be happy for a few years, than live those few years alone?
Remember Max, you are more likely to regret the things that you DIDN'T do... |

You see, I would want to have a good job and home/place of living firmly established before I make the commitment to get married. And also enjoy a few years of just living on my own after school.

I prefer to be alone over the feeling of rejection, but constantly thinking of what might have been would drive me mad.
My whole life I have tended to prefer being alone among my peers- and doing lab reports alone for the most part. It's really not that bad. There is a lot that is nice about it. I still have a few good friends like my Dad, though. So I am not totally alone. It is great because I can pour all my time into my passions for cars, bikes, outdoors, whatever. It is only when I have a break between those projects or activities that I feel the lonliness.

I work alone on most things as well, and I do usually prefer it. But when you find someone that you truly enjoy spending time with, doing anything, you realize that the working alone isn't what you really enjoy, you just enjoyed being able to do what you do with no distractions. If you enjoy being with that person, they aren't a distraction.
I would suggest finding someone that is adventurous like yourself, and willing to at least try your hobbies. My first serious gf had no interest in cars, and that put a major damper on things.... I'm doing much better this time around. Also find someone that you can learn from, but that is willing to learn from you as well. When you are learning from each other, is when you will discover the most about each other, no matter what you are doing. And most importantly, find someone that you love spending time with. I'm talking can be together literally nonstop and not get tired of them. |
