Thanks for the advice. My neurotic dog scratches the door to the garage from separation anxiety when no one's home. So we repainted the door. So I thought of putting up a sheet of plexiglass over the bottom half of the door to avoid having to do this annually. The only sheet large enough at Home Depot is a piece of lexan. (Holy sheiss it's not cheap.) But it's about 1/8 of an inch too wide, and I wanted to make little circular cutouts to fit the door knob and deadbolt lock. I understand I need a carbide blade. I was going to use my skilsaw and freehand it, but Dave has graciously offered some help with a table saw to ensure the cut's straight.

How old is Camber now? Shes a fun dog though, hard to beat a retriever.

Looks like you had a lot of fun, Glen. Poor Sid. He was stuck in SD... Staring at dirt. Serouisly. Now I am craving Hooters for lunch.... |

I wasn't staring at dirt, only the backs of my eyelids.... Thinking about going out on the patio this evening and grilling some burgers. Just depends on the weather....
I'd bet I'm at least an hour away from a hooters.... |

Scratch that... Just for giggles I checked, nearest one is Fargo ND, and there isn't a single one in SD....

Another reason why I wouldn't want to go to SD. Seriously, what state doesn't have a Hooters? It seems like we have one on every corner here.

Hmm. Didn't know that. I figured if it was strong enough to serve as motorcycle/open cockpit helmet faceshields, then it would be strong enough to withstand a dog's claws.
Guess I'll have to weigh if it's better to replace the lexan whenever we move out of this house, or have to resand/paint the door annually. At some point we'll run out of door to re-sand and have to replace it. Any other ideas for sacrificial material to cover the interior side of the door to protect it from my dog?

Whew, I a tired. Had fun at the car show. As soon as I got home I mowed & edged the yard. I was not quite finished when I got the call to go to the track to set help set up the autocross course. We got that done and got home in time to feed the dogs. I am relaxing for 30 minutes the I need to tighten up one of the oil lines. It is seeping a little. So that means jack up the car remove the tire, and torque down that one line. Then I can finally take a shower.

For what you are doing? I would use a piece of .040 aluminum, with a slight bend on the edges so they are pointed to the door, and not a catch hazard.... |

I was at the hangar after class until 11:30pm last night for the FSAE car. The motor controllers are cheap and have gone on the fritz. We need to beg a different sponsor for some new ones.
I went for a ride/hike this morning on Bishop Peak. I regretted not bringing my camera. I used the "proper/official" entry point this time and was very pleased with it. Not only is there a nice climb up a twisty, paved (in good condition) road, but the hike goes longer and through some nice oak forest. There are large boulders in the forest with lichen and moss and then you end up skirting around the big cliff face, sort of like a 1% scale Half Dome. You can see chalk there where people do climbing. I went off on several side trails (probably not really allowed) but did not find the cave that Dave and the girl last week mentioned. Being in that forest with the ferns, oaks, and big cliff there was awesome, and the weather was nice and cool in the shade. The trail does not end there, though. I went up to the top of the peak and sat up on the rocks for a while and pondered the FSAE suspension then came back home and did a little Solidworks on it. And what was just as nice as the hike in the woods was the bike ride back down the steep, twisty, paved road. ![]() I'm going to ask the girl on Monday if she remembers anything about where that cave might be.
