Naaaaaa, just spray the brakes and pads with a lot of WD-40.

Just did rear pads on the Highlander....same thing outer pad gone and about half left on the inner. Slides were ok not great but after the wire wheel treatment and grease should be ok.
Of course i had to replace the rotor because no one bothered to tell me they were making noise until too late

replacing rotors is a pain and an unnecessary expense, usually.

thanks. yeah, it all felt good and smooth. i slid the caliper back and forth with the pads in, before pumping the brakes to push the pistons into place.

i don't even keep wd-40 in my garage. useless stuff that creates more problems than it solves, IMO.

It does work ok on the inside of a distributor that gets a lot of water on it.
