We went out for breakfast with some folks we know in Pittsburgh and decided on Denny's, and to just meet there. We left the hotel ( I say that jokingly) and used the GPS. Clicked restaurants and there was the Denny's 2.4 miles away, hit go and off we went following the ladies voice. It took us past the golf course, into a neighborhood and said Denny's was on the left. I almost got out of the car and knocked on the door to see if Denny lived there and if he was going to serve us breakfast.

Rick, I had a gps tell me the Hershey Hotel was in a residential area. It was a nice house but it was no hotel. The Hershey hotel is huge.

Still can't believe I unknowingly stayed in this place. I'm not into ghost stories, but some weird stuff happens here...

Just carry a night vision camera and wear a black t-shirt and jeans and ghosts won't bother you.

Sid, there ain't no such thing as ghost, Bigfoot, Loch Ness monster and extraterrestrials from other planets, unicorns or the tooth fairy. The ONLY reason those silly stories continue is to fleece tourists. Well the tooth fairy is not for tourists but she is just as real as the rest.
The only reason Roswell NM is even still a city is tourism. There is not one single scintilla of hard evidence for any ghost, Bigfoot, Nessie, extraterrestrial or unicorn. They are all make believe and ways for hucksters to make a living from gullible people. I just love science fiction and have been a Trekkie from the broadcast of the original series. I have all of Isaac Asimov's novels and short stories. There is a key word there. Fiction.

When I wet to take the trash out last night I had to bring a hammer so I could get into my trash can.
![]() We had about 3/4 inch to 1 inch of ice on every raised surface. ![]() ![]() This morning there were patches of fog. I had some hoarfrost on top of the ice. Today with some luck most of it will melt off.

One of my former co-works had a funny story about how he discovered the tooth fairy was really his mom. He had acquired 88 cents in change. This was in the early 60s so you could buy lots of candy with that much. They lived in the country and he was just waiting until he could get to town and buy some candy. He had counted that change over and over. He knew each coin, the date and mint mark. He stacked it carefully next to the spot where he sat in the living room.
He lost a tooth and was thrilled he would get another quarter for his tooth. He was going to have OVER a dollar! He was going to be rich. He went to bed and was excited about his imminent earnings. The second he woke up he stuck his hand under the pillow and fund 88 cents. Wow, he was really rich now. He ran to living room looking for his loot and it was GONE!. Then he looked at his change and the tooth fairy had given him his own money. He was devastated and went crying to mom that the tooth fairy was a thief!

That sounds almost as devastating as my Mom using some dimes she found on my desk to make change for someone. They were Mercury head silver dimes a friend and I had found in an old pinball machine we were given. We split the 30 dimes we found jambes up in the coin mechanism. At the time they were worth $110 each. I have 3 or them. Now, 40 years later they are worth a whole $2.75 to $3.25 each.

I have all of those on my bookshelf. Even a limited edition set of the entire Foundation series. I have all of his autobiographies. As I remember he wrote three or maybe four volumes of autobiographies. As he said it was easy writing about his favorite subject.

Snow Crash by Neil Stephenson and Neuromancer, and Burning Chrome by William Gibson are good too.
Larry Niven has some good scifi shorts. Short stories not underware made with tin foil to protect you from alien probes.

In Burning Chrome the term Cyberspace is first introduced. In Snow Crash the term Avatar as it applies to users in cyberspace is first used. These books are CyberPunk as opposed to steampunk. The book The Difference Engine by William Gibson is a combination of steam punk and cyberpunk.
