For your first time... I'd say you will run into two weekends. You will spend lots of time on the little bits and working things. Peeling up a sheet and trying again...

So, I'll buy a bunch of beer and sucker someone into coming over to help!
Any suggestions on where to buy? |

Saw it with slodave a couple nights ago. Borrowed a copy from a friend who's in the Academy. Good and enjoyable flick, but I actually didn't care for the racing scenes. Too fabricated. I thought the racing scenes from Le Mans and Grand Prix were much better. And as a car guy/racing fan, that matters to me.

Ok... Now its time to own up to my own stupid car consideration...
![]() I've got the VW itch again.. This time looking at an aircooled ride though! ![]() ![]() '69. Not sure if its the original motor, and yes I've got a wee bit to learn about bugs. Been doing lots of reading.. ![]() ![]() It started and ran nice, and yes it had to be jumped as the wiring needs some help.. It has had the rest of the glass put in since that picture. Needs some final assembly, and possibly floor pans depending on how picky I want to be. They have been repaired, but not right IMHO. The good news is that the rest of the ride is very rust free. Its a good 10ft car right now. The paint is new but has some dead spots and a run. But its a metallic so hard to correct. Would be a fun knock around car on the weekends when the weather is good (9mos of the year )Still undecided on this one though given that I need about 2k in misc parts by my calculations even with it being almost finished. Talked the guy down 500 off his asking today, but really feel like I need to get him down another 500... Going to let him sit on it a few days...

Nice looking VW! Looks like a fantastic paint job...at least as mych as one can tell by the the photo...love the orange. How much does something like that go for these days (las one I bought was a '67 in '76 for $100)? I know for a while they were pretty pricey...was looking at one for my daughter about 15 years ago...but bought the 911 in similar condition parked next to it because it was quite a bit cheaper.

Sid, if you find yourself craving some flat-6, air-cooled, rear-engine goodness, get yourself a 1965-66 Corvair Corsa. Either the 4x1-bbl or Turbo.

Sounds like Albuquerque. It is typically very high here in Virginia.
Was watching television Saturday night...a show called House Hunters International. It featured a couple looking to rent a house in Townsville. Spent about a month there once with the US and Aussie Special Forces. Really liked the tropical weather, good food, nice people...and relatively low population. It was a cooler time of year so the weather was almost perfect and the beach was very nice. I plan on visiting again when I have more time to play, see the Billabong, etc. |

The Dung Beetle...
![]() It looked almost just like the Bug Sidney showed, even had same wheels when Farm Truck and Azn on Street Outlaws first got it. They "destored" it to look like a junker to make it a street sleeper. Custom built up 2300 Turbo out back. Couldn't find any dyno info on it. Bet it weighs next to nothing. It out pulled a 911 Turbo, Giardo, and a GTR. Hilarious

Townsville's nice in the dry season, but so's anywhere in the tropics. Likewise, anywhere in the tropics is 5hitty during the wet season. I've lived in both the tropics and the southern states of Oz and smack in the middle suits us best. Been here for 20 years next month. We get humid weather occasionally at this time of the year, particularly when there's a couple of tropical lows converging to the north west. A couple of stormy nights and +100F days and life gets a little sticky. Still rather be here though than anywhere else
![]() Let us know if ya gunna come look at the big rock in the middle of Oz if/when you do come over. Be sure to come over in the dry (our winter), the weather is much more hospitable, and I'll take you to places that the ordinary tourist don't get to see. BTW, the offer is good for anyone that comes visit me
