Average is $8500, Haggarty's car valuation is a great place to lookup older car's values. That's where that What's My Car Worth show gets their pricing information. The show rated a very nice 90 928 GT as D for collect ability which is pretty low. But their price of $28K was almost exactly what one went across the block at Mecum for.

My GTS is a very sought after color combo, one of three and the only 5spd which makes it more desirable and values it at $65,000. Up quite a bit from the $40K I paid 5 years ago. I've got a list somewhere of people that have asked to be contacted when I am ready to sell it, including a previous owner.

i agree with the above. i was super surprised at the reaction in the 944 forum. it was like i asked if i could turbocharge my NA, or something.

You have to be careful. Like any other Porsche it is easy to buy one that you gotta spend $10,000 to make it a $5,000 car. $2500 sounds too cheap. Again, just like any other Porsche, does it run, Miles, Service history, condition of interior and paint, all the electric stuff work. There is a pinned thread on the 928 board on Rennlist.com that tells all the stuff to look for good and bad and the year specific common issues.

wow. i am simply amazed at the state of the 944 area. it is as bad as PARF. and i mean that literally. with the same personalities, just different handles. i may have to hang around in there and cause some trouble.

Frankly I'm shocked too at the responses, and I love that bell is all high and mighty now that is a tech at an Indy shop. I remember when he was a speaker dude and was cool...

It's funny that even after someone explains that Porsches own engineers found that system acceptable, you still have people saying what you did is wrong... Should I tell them I've changed my own timing belts with out the special tension tool.... Twice now! And glen and Richard can attest that I take no prisoners at autocross. Only changed the belt the second time due to age!

my favorite part was when bell lectured me about re-tensioning the belt..... for the love. LOL!

I had an order for 30 shift knobs via TRE. I dropped off the first 10 yesterday and ended up getting an email this afternoon that all 10 were sold and now 10 more are needed. These shift knobs are starting to sell faster than I can make them

THAT is a good problem to have. It beats the heck out of having shift knobs sitting around unsold.

The Pelican 911 technical site is always busy and may posts are about models before the Carrera so I don't post. The AC threads are where I post and read. One particular poster has never in his life actually serviced a AC system. He admits it. He had never pulled a vacuum, never touched a wrench to a connection, never replaced a component, just nothing. He has decided that his internet reading and his wild imagination make him an expert. He will go on and on throwing out the wild speculations that are just wrong. Everyone and I do mean everyone tells him he if flat wrong, and he persists. He has been banned once for calling Griffith's products over priced snake oil. Since Pelican sells them and many people like myself point out how well they really do the job he did get one suspension. We would be best served if he was banned forever.

I think he does or did have a 911. He is just a checkbook mechanic. Nothing wrong with that, just don't claim to be an expert on rebuilding the engine if you can't even change the oil.

Ahh, I guess I am a checkbook mechanic on most things. I tend to do the small stuff and let the experts deal with the costly stuff.

Jeff was taller than him and a little bigger overall. Not as big as the guy in your first pic.
