Mine has a slipper clutch behind the spur gear....apparently, you're supposed to keep it kinda loose so you don't blow up driveshafts....

Looks like I've got a small crowd coming to the range with me on Friday.....got some new guys coming as well....guess I'll have to dust off my safety briefing.

Once dreamed we were going on vacation. The mode of transportation was flying the house. It was piloted using the faucet in the kitchen sink and looking out the back door in the kitchen.

Still not as weird as dreaming I jumped out of a car and immediately woke up with a sprained ankle that I didn't have when I went to sleep.

We have heat int he truck again. Don't know about the rear end yet. It was a little low on oil but after having it up I am not sure if it is the diff or wheel bearing.

HA! I had a similar iteration of this out back on my first R/C build, RC10-T.

Takes a while to save the $500 and learn as you build...when you're 9 years old.

If the slipper clutch doesnt scream a bit on takeoff, it needs adjusted.... I tune mine to wear it will just barely pull the nose up. Makes it a bit more driveable, and a little less torque on the driveline. It locks up pretty quickly and launches.

I kept mine pretty tight on dirt but on a road course machine it had to be a bit loose. The tires had so much grip it would push pretty bad under power. It was funny to hear all the 1/10 scale cars squealing around the corners. The tires would last a couple nights of racing before they were shot.

I had two bodies painted in the "Pink Cow" scheme based on the 944 with said livery. It was custom made by me. Belt drive, 911 style rear suspension, handmade links and geometry for the front suspension. Worked great on a sticky track, but tricky on tracks with less traction. Crashed it so hard once that the balls in the diff dented the plates in the diff. It was hard on the u-joint half shafts but they were much smoother than a regular dogbone.

Now the batteries and motors are o much better I don't know if I could drive competitively any longer.

Every year at the PCA Porsche Parade they have a RC cars autocross. They have different classes for kids and adults. It is really cool.

It is just astonishing how fast a good driver can get around the course. It is funny to see the average driver poking around and then see a fast car driven at the limit all the way. It is obvious some of those drivers have spent a lifetime driving a toy car.

I prefer to practice from inside my own real car.

Yup. Completely different. With RC everything is by sight. You have to know what the car will do in every circumstance and watch for when it doesn't. I used to be pretty good and have some regional podium finishes, but I know I am a much better driver in the car than outside the car. That is why I am going RC planes. Though I am probably a lot better pilot in the plane than outside, RC is so much cheaper.

RC planes has changed so much since I was into it. Sure glad I sold all my stuff several years ago while the radios were still worth something. A good place to fly is too far away since they put a highway in where the best field was. The closest field has asphalt runways, but there are too many trees too close. Causes crashes (wind) and you have to look up to high to fly above them. The flyers there say you get used to it, but I just couldn't see getting used to crashing my planes.

When I flew often there were days where the winds here in OK were over 20mph. Lots of people were still flying. Went to a rc field in Alanta area, the wind got up to a whole 8mph and everyone packed their planes and went home.

Never got into boats or cars/trucks, but there was a big indoor car track in town with both a scale dirt 1/4 and 1/2 mile oval and a 1/10th configurable road course. There was also another r/c car shop into nothing but Drag Racing. They had a 1/10 scale 1/4 mile drag strip with christmas tree lights and everything just like a full size drag strip, crazy.

Now I just play with the helicopter stuff. Was able get get a small one and learn to fly in my 2 car garage. Feel like by the time to learn control well I won't need to because stabilization and gps is making flying them so much easier. Some of the new cameral platform quad copters are just amazingly stabile.

Check out the new planes from Horizon Hobby with SAFE mode. For $179 RTF you get a plane that has three training modes, and a button that you can hit that will fly it out of about damn near any tight spot you put it in!

I broke one the other day too. Got a new set of RPMs to replace. The little one snagged a soccer net at 30mph+ and the front wheel stopped while the rest of the truck kept going. Bent the pin too, but I was able to hammer it out straight.

I ordered new knuckles and bearings on amazon....went with gom brand....solid reviews on the RC forums and cheap for aluminum knuckles

Well they put me on the floor helping people get their books, I got a whole two mins of instruction so it was all just wing it until I learned where crap was and how to read the schedules. What a joke. I will say I was not disappointed in the vast majority of the clientele
