The only 911 variant I really like is the new targa.

I don't know about the value... What's the best long term appreciation bet? 996 GT3, 928 GTS, or 57 Bird? The other question, is which do you love? Which one makes your heart beat faster? For me, the T-Bird is a real bona fide classic which will never be repeated as an original car or design concept. That being said, its not my money to spend. Edit... I think the GTS is very special in its own right. If you love the GTS I say keep that. It sounds like you love that car which is more important than plain old numbers...

As far as long term appreciation...If you want to collect that long term appreciation...all you can do is look at it, because driving it will ruin the value. That may not be a bad thing with the T-bird, because they are crap to drive so all you would end up doing it just looking at it anyway. I don't want a car I can't or don't want to drive. Besides, brother wants to get at least 70 from his and you can get them for 50 easy.
The 928 has been mentioned several times lately in the collector car mags and reports as a car to be buying now. It was the first clean sheet car design Porsche did, uh original car and design concept. Again, I am not into the collector value, etc, I want a car to drive. That also means Heat/AC not optional either. The main reason I drive Porsche is almost all other cars (I've tried almost all) pinch the nerves in my butt and are very literally a pain in the ass to drive longer than 15 minutes. .

Morning Y'all,
Well if money is the issue, just remember the prices on the 928's is rising and yours will never go backwards, if you are on the fence then I say hold onto it. Is the car getting to the point that you fear any damage from driving it? If so let it go. I love lanna but she is getting to the point that I am getting scared to drive her simply because of the other idiots on the road. I never take her to a shopping center or any kind of parking lot like that because I am worried about getting smacked. Yeah she is soul touching car to drive but I am not using her as I should. That is the only reason I am thinking about selling her. If I do I am going to put a few years down the road price on her. Right now 40K is my bottom dollar and I don't think the market is there yet for an SC that has a few rock chips in the original paint. I do however enjoy taking her up in the mountains, but there I go again with the fear of deer.

I'm pickier now about where I will take the 964 garage queen. Canyon carving is still on my list, but I'll even shy away from there on the weekends. Less idiots out during the work week.

Own up. It's not because of fear of idiot accidents, it's because there is just too much traffic to have fun any more.

I still drive my 911 wherever I want. Done the deer damage already. It got fixed. It is insured for enough to fix or replace it.

Same here. I don't treat it like a daily driver but will take it to the grocery store. I park away from others in all of our vehicles so it's not a big deal to do so. It drives my wife batty. hehehehe

Just don't like people saying they don't drive their sports car because it is so special they are afreaid some idiot will run into it, when the real reason is there is so much traffic on the roads today you can't go fast like you used to be able to. So you don't drive the sports car, instead you drive another car that is more comfortable to just cruise along with traffic in,

Although the T-bird is a classic and probably won't depreciate over the years, it's no better than a stack of $100 bills if you aren't going to drive it.
I would get a newer sports convertible to enjoy the sunshine, and not obsessively worry about a wayward scratch, drive the hell out of it and enjoy. |

Well I know mine is well insured, and I know it can either be fixed or replaced with cash but I have the original paint and that can never be replaced. That was what I wanted when I bought it so it is a delema of my own making, and to be honest, it is a good mental problem to have. When I do take her out believe me I drive her like I stole her.

Not at all. When we drive, we aren't in a commuting mindset. We hop onto the HOV lane and go. Not a lot of drama. Most craziness is in and around parking lots.

Not too much traffic up here in most areas. My SC is not original anymore so the value of it probably wouldn't be the same as others. It's been repainted 2 times among other things.
I just enjoy driving it.
