The new one is a Yamaha RX-V677
http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V677-7-2-channel-Network-Receiver/dp/B00ILCS182 It seems to be a nice unit. My 25 year old unit was a Yamaha. It has had a lot of use and is going to the curb at work. Someone can have some use from it. The unit I now have in my office is a Pioneer. It is working fine so far. The living-room needs a unit like that to run the various inputs and the 5 speakers. My office on has two front speakers so it is just there to be way better than the TV speakers. Since I watch TV and movies back here in the office it is nice to have better sound. We watch the F1 races in the living-room. I miss the screaming engines of the past but the surround sound system is way better for movies.

Chilly evening here at 50 degrees.
Took the family to a local steakhouse for supper. meh, not as good as I remember it being. Sitting by the fire with a cup of coffee and an ECig(don't like cigars}listening to all of the Harley heads leaving the bar up on the main drag. There is a huge car show in Frankenmuth this weekend but I don't even feel like going, not having the 911.

Yamaha AV50 was my first surround sound system back in 1982. It was an Audio Video Controller/pre-amp with a surround sound decoder. Had to use separate amps.

Just back from a PCA cookout / tour. The host gave us a tour of his garage/barn before lunch.........holly $#*%. Packard, Jaguar, Healey, Rolls (belonged to Elvis.... but he's left the building), Bugatti, MG, and of course a wide body C4 Carrera, 2 boats, etc, etc. Will post some pictures in the morning. Great time.

Cute kid Jeff.
I looked up the build date of my old amp. It is from 1988. So it it older than Sid. It worked 100% until this year. I used to blast that amp at a volume the record player would skip. I got my first CD player in about 1986 or 1987 but it took several years to afford to buy many CDs and I have a lot of albums that I never bought the CD version of.

Did you sneak over and eat some of GD's birthday cake? It's been 3 hours and I'm just coming down off the sugar high.

Just got back from a short business trip. Does everyone in Seattle smoke? A beautiful city slightly bespoiled by the ever-present waft of cig smoke. Kinda sucks to try to eat or enjoy a drink outdoors.

Afternoon all. We had a fun autocross today. The weather was San Diego perfect. Low 60s in the morning and 78 or 80 and very low humidity as we left. It was NICE out there.
We set the course up as a fast one. The longest straight possible. Wheeeeeee! It sure is fun to slide around a corner in second gear at max traction and stand on it to red line, hit third and stand on it to red line and NAIL to brakes and drop back to 40 to drive through the horseshoe and drop to second and go to the finish line. WHEEEEEE! 10 laps was my limit. I was tired by then. I will maybe upload a video tomorrow. I need to get out there and wash the 911 and put it away undercover in the garage nice and snug. It sure is a FUN toy.

I didn't train.... At all. Pretty sore right now. Totally worth it to walk across that finish line with mom though. One year ago she was getting her chemo port put in and preparing to start chemo. Today she finished a half. Not a bad recovery!

Go Mom Go.
yeah good jib Sid Soooooooooo I had to go into town today and haul some stuff for my SIL (please note I have known her loger than I have known Beth and I have not liked her for that long) and I rolled up behind some jack wipe in a prius doing 25 below the speed limit, I pulld so close onto his bumper I could not see the back glass in the crap basket. The dude sticks his arm out the window and flips me off (at the same time he hits the gas. My reaction was to hit the gas but I was too late, he got away. The day has gone down hill from there.

Seems the norm around here is for all the morons to drive at least 10mph under the speed limit. And Whew! There sure are a LOT of them!
