Glen, I applied to chippendales, but they aren't hiring any hairy pasty white guys...

And Joe, yes it will be a fun job. Local high performance auto parts company... . They've been doing work on 991 turbos lately...

Now we have 450 email only users. Because of the 3 year contract we cant remove any of the licenses, but can add more full office or online office licenses for a year a time. That's to get the discount on only the Office365 from $22 to 20. Maybe it's that new math and I just don't understand it?
Welcome to common core IT!

Sid, congrats on the good news whatever it turns out to be.

One of my former co-workers was a Chippendale dancer for a while. He had some pretty wild stories. Women just threw themselves at him. He was a total jerk and I think that made the women want him even more.

Have an... Interesting... situation with trying to sell the bug. What say you guys?

Have a guy wanting to buy it who wants to drive it back to Wyoming. He asked if I thought it would make it, and I told him honestly that the carb needs some love, and who knows what else for a drive that long! I pointed out that with the change in altitude he will likely want to run different jetting or a different carb from the worn out one that is on there. He just emailed and asked if he sent some extra money would I put a new carb on.

So here are the options I've come up with. Going to pick one to respond to him with

A) He orders the carb he wants and sends it here and I'll install and get it running

B) He orders the carb he wants and brings it with, I help him swap...

I really want him to make the choice on carb and jetting, as I don't want to pick something that won't work well for him! Really leaning towards option B

If the opportunity arose I would. Leads just haven't been there lately. In AZ it really is all about how many people you know, and I don't know that many people. It won't cost me much to keep my license active, maybe in a few years my network will be big enough to make it a solid income stream.

In the meantime, this is a good opportunity for me, and its close to home, and should be entertaining!

I traded in the GMC Jimmy I put my own motor in. I traded it to a dealer on a new Jeep Cherokee.
The new owner looked me up on the title and contacted me on the truck. I had some seat covers and stuff I sold them. When I delivered the seat covers they wanted me to give them some kind of guarantee on the new motor!? Got really upset when I laughed at them. But since when to you expect a previous owner to provide any kind of warrantee when you purchased a vehicle from a car lot?

I wouldn't do anything that I could be remotely associated with any kind of guarantee.

If the guy knows anything about older bugs he should want to do the carb hisself.

If not he should have it trailered and learn locally.

I've had all three of the last three cars I've purchased trailered. It averaged $500.
And both of the Porsches I would have enjoyed the drive, but really trailering was less expensive if you considered air fare, gas and lodging.

Hang onto it for your career change and use it for a test article.

I would ask the guy how much he knows about old bugs. They are lawnmower simple.

I would bet money my brother could drive your old bug to the top of Pikes Peak and then on to Wyoming. He drives a 1954 bug as his daily driver and has for over 30 years. He has never once failed to drive it home. He had done some interesting roadside repairs on it.

Wife of a guy at work really liked those temperamental XJs with the V12. He found a really good local mechanic for them. Ended up getting his wife an XJ convertible and another XJ sedan so his twin sons would have the same kind of car. Don't think he would have been able to do that unless he knew a really good mechanic.

As and example I know a guy that has 6 of those XJs to be able to keep one of them running at any given time.

Man I sure wish there was just one more good Porsche mechanic here in OKC. The shop my 928 used to be run by the father of the guy that runs it now. When his father ran it he had is son and another good mechanic that took care of most everything so Dad worked on motor rebuilds and stuff like that getting it done pretty quickly.

The Dad and the other good mechanic retired and has turned the shop over to his son. The son has one good mechanic working for him, but can't seem to get the second good mechanic. Just about gets a new one up to speed and they quit or he ends up having to fire them. This is leaving his rebuild projects languishing taking forever to get done.

Back when the Jag XJ series III was new one of my "oily" friends that was making crazy money bought one new. After one year the dealer had had it in the shop for repairs twice as much as he had it to drive. He made them buy it back as a Lemon.

My friend was one of the few honest oil industry folks. When the 1980s oil bust hit and everything collapsed he went from millionaire to owing a million. He stayed in it and eventually paid every dime he owed. All his other oil business guys just declared bankruptcy. He said he owed the money and no one was going to say he did not pay his debts.

It took him a while but he repaid them all and made another million. He learned to not leverage everything and lives in a very nice house and is retired.

Those are the lines that are dead. The IT folks will get your phone line or your Cat5 line broken, then fixed.

Just type in your pets name and go!

Yea, I can see how it is tough to do anything in CAD without the Computer part of the CAD acronym.
