Well, they finally called the guy that left the company and he is supposed to be fixing our firewall and my remote access an privileges so I can maintain our firewall again.
They had the consultant set our on-site servers so it could send directly to the internet itself and found it could not get to the internet thru it's own IP either. It went out thru the same incorrect IP other traffic was being forced thru and that IP was still blacklisted so email started bouncing almost immediately. Again, don't use the knowledge resources you have when you can bumble around in the dark! If it went more smoothly guess they couldn't justify the expense.

Good Humpday morning folks.
Yesterday was the last full day of temporary bachelorhood. I go pick up my wife at the airport today. I will be glad to have her back home but the dogs will REALLY love to have her back home. They are way behind on lap time. Our female dog is just weird. She is a total non morning person, um dog. She does not even get out of bed for her breakfast. She just goes hungry all day and I give her extra in the evening feeding. She has some ritual with Mrs. Carrera for breakfast later in the morning and without momma around she prefers to pout. The male dog has never missed a meal or any opportunity to eat. They will be some kinda happy to see her home. So will I.

More shoveling for me today. We got about 10 inches of the white rain yesterday. It was fluffy but still....

Me too now. Suddenly stopped because the IT Director that is issuing the termination removal job tickets is "en route to office" Hope it isn't my home office he is en route to.

Well they just sent an email saying the layoffs are finished and I'm still here, or at least I have not locked myself out of everything, no-one came to visit, and I have not been asked to come to the office.
Looked like around 60 people. I didn't keep track exactly. Have 45 people that had AD accounts that I can't complete the employee separation process for another 30 days.

So far so good. I'm betting some of the people that were let go are very surprised. Especially a couple of machinist and shop supervisors that had as many years at he company as I do...ie 35 years.
Disappointed in our new network manager...he is the one that refused to change the firewall until AFTER he got some of our public IPs blacklisted. He might know LAN and wireless networking, but knows nothing about public DNS and Email. Being blacklisted can cause problems for months. Once you get on it like adds points to your domain to get blacklisted again and again. Example: now that we have the IP discrepancy it puts us on the list so if we send emails to groups we will get blacklisted again.
