When I changed from my old macbook to my current macbook air, I just had to click through a few times and set them both down for about two hours and it did all of that for me with no fuss. I was using an airport extreme for my router back then though, maybe that makes a difference.

Jim, you weren't able to use the Migration Assistant?
We had a Mac Xserver that the drive interface board died. I got a replacement Xserve on ebay for $100. All that needed to be done was pop the two hard drives in their slots, plug in the Fiber channel board, and connect the 24 Terabyte Raid Array and it would be back up and running with all the permissions set thru the Active Directory. They didn't want to wait one day for it to arrive so instead...they plugged the fiber channel card into an old Mac tower and spent 2 days moving the 9 Terabytes of Mac indesign and photoshop files to a PC based NAS. Then they spent another day trying to re-setup all the permissions. They have been having permission problems almost every other day since. They have also been having problems with the files themselves as most of the users are the various art and literature people on Macs and are having problems with the files stored on the PC file system. The users are also complaining about how slow getting to and saving files is now. The Xserve had 2 gigabit network connections that ganged up to double the access speed. My proposal 2 years ago was turned down to upgrade the 9 year old Xserve to a 1U rack mount box that holds 2 mac minis and the fiber channel controller that had failover between the 2 mac minis. The total cost was $2000. They spent 3 times that to put the data on PC NAS and a second NAS server to back it up because "Mac minis are not enterprise." Hey, at least they didn't put all that data on cloud storage! Oh and since the file server is not on a Mac any more I ain't responsible for nuthin no more. I've been managing that data on Mac servers since 1991.

An Early Good Weekend Morning!
Startbucks, or more importantly Dunkin Donuts is open already this morning! Go thru the drive thru and Dunkin Donuts gives you a donut for dogs (it's actually a real dog treat they make, no sugar). Starbucks gives you a sample cup with whatever that stuff is they call whipped cream in it and call it Puppachino. Sonic is very hit or miss and they have individually wrapped and Sonic branded dog treats. Walgreens drive thru always gives dog treats as does the drive up teller at the credit union. Earls BBQ always gives her to go box full of rib ends and meat scraps. Steve's Ribs have gotten to where they give me doggie bag of scrap ribs for her when we go for lunch and we go in. Most of the other drive ups are hit or miss and usually give her chicken nuggets when they give her anything. Most places she says Hello every clearly in two syllables. Sometimes its four syllables I can't quite make out. Maybe she is ordering a treat, "I want a treat?" Think I will start taking some treats and work on the so it is clearer.

Morning.
Not to get all serious on the Def Leppard thing but it's cool how the band stuck with Rick through all of his recovery. I'm not a big fan of the stuff after Pyromania but he certainly is an inspiration to not give up after a life changing situation. and yes, I use both arms for "air drumming" the older stuff and just one for the Hysteria and later.

Are the files MPEG or wav or just standard cd format. Just re-rip the files.

Stijn!!
Yea, I finally have the speedometer in the Elky I had in there for years fixed and working as I wanted. No more bouncing needle, the speed sensor works and no more squealing like a stuck pig.

Just rip to wav or whatever format you prefer. With low compression and high bitrate it will sound great.

We just wrapped up a dinner party here with a few other couples to celebrate the Chinese (Lunar) New Year. We're beat. Forget year of the Rooster. It feels like the year of dragging my ass. Tomorrow is a good day to sleep late.

I am trying to catch up to the 24 hrs of Daytona. I was caught up at 10:00 pm last night our time. 14:40:30 to go right now. So about 15 hours of watching left to go.
It is strange that the VW company has Lambo's and Audis and of course Porsches running. The Porsche is a given but running the Lamborghini and Audi with the same engine is expensive. I guess they are hoping for the win on Sunday sell on Monday phenomenon.

Haven't looked, but thought Lambos were gasoline and Audis were diesel.
So how would they run a 24 hour race in a Tesla? Swap all the batteries every 200 miles?

Endurance racing for electric cars is 2.4 hours not 24.

Maybe if electric car endurance racing was longer we would have electric cars I might consider!

Not until they rewrite the laws of physics. There is just no way yet to cram in enough energy into batteries to equal power of gasoline. And, certainly no way to "refuel" them easily and quickly. If 1/4 of the cars on the market magically turned into electric cars overnight we don't have the capacity to generate enough electricity to power them.

The problem I see is the negative impact on the environment from manufacturing batteries.
Maybe they could make them so you change batteries like tires.

Even if you can change them to have the energy needed to go 200 miles would be deadly. And they would be heavy and hard to move around.
