Woo hoo! Pediatrist says I can wear my shoes again instead of those slipper stockings. That means I can start driving the 928 without my foot slipping off the clutch!

Uh huh. I think that was just an excuse you use for the Police. Just slipped off the clutch while maintaining 2000rpm!

It rained pretty hard here last night. Turing to snow tonight. Great. I hate the snow over wet roads. Might have to take the truck tomorrow with the Blizzaks.

Ut oh. That stroke thing monkeyed with my brain. On a whim took an IQ test and got 154. Have gotten 146 on those things for years.

Kids have expensive tastes till reality hits. I always wanted a Ferrari. I had to wait a long time to get a Porsche.

I didn't care about cars and was happy with my $1.00 station wagon. My Dad pushed me to get better car and ended up with a 71 Plymouth Satelite Sebring Plus muscle car with 383 and slap stick. Never would let me put 70's on the front and 50's on the back though. We spent a Saturday going around car lots to find one we both liked. He didn't like Camaros.

My dad told me I could buy any car I could afford. He gave me a interest free loan. I wanted a new 911, but settled on a $600 1960 VW bug with a tired 36 HP engine.

I just did the inflation calculator. $600 back then is $3,600 today. A decent running beater can be had today for that and it would likely have a gas gauge, the ability to out accelerate a fully loaded 18 wheeler, and a top speed way over 65 MPH of my old bug. Of course back then I could stop at the gas station and the attendant would pump the gas, check the oil, check the tires ask about the family and wash the windshield for $3 or less for a fill-up. The first time I had to pay three whole dollars I was outraged.

I sold that bug for $650 and bought a brand new 60 HP 1973 bug.

When she bought her 5 string bass she bought it based on how it sounded and ended up with one of the less expensive ones. Go figure.

I haven't been interested in a Ferrari since they discontinued the F40. The F40 was a real Ferrari to me and everything after is more of a status car IMVHO.

The 911 has always appealed to me and the 944 is one of the nicest looking front engine/RWD vehicles out there.

At least they have an interest in cars and know what type the like.

Yea, one of my wife's friends has a 19 year old son living at home. He has no driver's license and zero interest in cars or learning to drive. I can't even fathom that mindset.

Of course I see the parents are partially responsible. They drove him around everywhere, and did not push him to get a DL.

I loved the 365 and the 512BB. Bus alas I was not lucky enough to win a lottery.

My youngest has a car and permit but has been so busy with school work in college prep courses he has not got the lic to drive yet.

I was at the DL testing facility on my 16th birthday. My brother had to go with me since I had to have a licensed drive with me.

I was 16, with a car that I had only $400 left to go before it was paid for. It was paid off in 6 months. I had to pay 100% of all costs, except the insurance. Dad paid for that. I remember buying a set of four tires, mounted and balanced for $30. They were just recaps, but with 36 HP and a flat out speed of 65 to 70 depending on headwind recaps were fine.

my first car was a project my father took on a mustang II that he was told a v-8 could be put in. The cost turned out to be to much. It was traded for a Camaro with a little 305 in it.

I had my dl the day after I turned 16. For some reason they didn't want to open a Sunday just for me. I had my motorcycle endorsement with in 3 months and was told I'd never live to see 18. Well I proved him wrong.

I put a set of tires on the green wagon. Dad bought a new big station wagon and wanted Michelins on it so he gave me the tires that came on his wagon. They were too big. If you turned the steering wheel all the way one way of the other they rubbed.

Later I got an Audi. Then as a truck to mow lawns I bought a 64 Ford Window van. The kind with the motor between the seats. It had a set of tires in the back that were the same rim size as the Audi. They were bigger than the stock size, but didn't rub and made the little Audi look a LOT better.

The only vehicle I've ever owned that I didn't replace the tires one was the 81 Full Size GMC Jimmy. It had huge wheels and big 34" Uniroyal Off road radia tires. I wanted them to wear out so I could BF Goodrich off road tires. Think that's why I never got stuck with them and they never wore at all. When I got the truck it had only big shocks lifting it enough to fit the big Uniroyal tires. I put a real 4inch lift kit on it and it drove a LOT better and didn't eat drive shaft U joints.

Kinda funny I went from a full size 4x4 blazer to a 914, then back to another full size blazer. Kinda like off-road, on-road, off-road opposites.

Back when my 914 was my only car, I needed to borrow a pickup from a friend to haul some large and heavy stuff for the Porsche club. The truck was a extended cab long bed with a pipe rack. It was fricking HUGE compared to the little 914. It was his only vehicle, so we swapped for the day. I felt like I was driving a cruise ship, he thought he was in a go cart. We both were happy to get our own vehicles back.

Emily doesn't like to drive much yet. I asked her why since she loves to race karts and she said you get to go fast in the karts and cars are boring. This is the kid that when Jacob's age asked if the Cobra could be a race car. She then told me she would race it and then give it back. I need to send her to the teen driving school at Road America. Then the HP school at Blackhawk Farms, then we can talk about borrowing the Cobra. She can drive it to and from school I suppose. Set the rev limiter to 3000rpm and she cant get into too much trouble.
