I found this laying in the middle of the road. Buck USA 285+. Nothing really special but just a well built lightweight knife.

I should’ve taken a picture, but I found a nice folding knife in one of the houses I’m building. Specifically in one of the cabinets that we just had installed.

I saw the installer yesterday and asked him if he lost a knife and he said he did. He asked if it was black and said Marine One on the blade.

Turns out, his sister had given it to him and served on Marine One.

His son was working with him that day and misplaced it. I’m glad I found it and was able to give it back to him. It meant a lot to him.

I got a new knife today. It's the first knife made by Work Sharp, the people that make the knife sharpeners. I saw a positive review on them and liked what I saw.
The body is cerakoted magnesium. The pocket clip can go on either side of the handle. The blade is made from M390 steel at 60-62 RHC so it should hold a nice edge. The blade has ruby ball bearings (like in watches) on both sides so the blade opens easily. The real trick up its sleeve is that it comes with some parts and a tool so that the knife can be converted to full auto. The knife also includes spare parts in case you lose something when swapping back and forth between manual and auto.
The knife has a very positive lock when open and closed. The action when in manual mode is very smooth and easy. It's a one handed open and close. It's also very smooth in auto mode.

I got the mini drop point with the gray handle like the top photo. It's small but big enough to operate and feels safe in the hand despite it's size. It's nice and light and should fit nicely in a pocket. I've been carrying Benchmade pocket knives daily since 1995. I like them because they are well made and engineered and I only buy models made with good steel that holds an edge. All of the BM knives that I've had feel to me like the Porsches of the consumer pocket knife market.

I feel like this work sharp is as good or better than most BM knives, and it was probably half the price of a similar BM at $129 for the mini or $139 for either of the full sized models. This thing is very well made and a bargain.

Hawk Talon (Yes it’s pretty but the real beauty is the action. Buttery smooth. Better than any knife I’ve ever owned before)

Microtech ZBP (game changer. Yes I am aware of the drama between Hawk and Microtech….they are both amazing. However, the Deadlock is 5-6x the cost of this one. If I can get a deadlock one day I probably will get it.)

My small collection

So, we fly to Puerto Rico in two SH-60's for the first Penguin Missile warhead shots.

Here is the Motley Crew:

Here is one of the four missiles we shot, all hits:

Bye:

The Norwegians we so happy they gave use all Penguin Missile blades:

I love the thing

that is nice!!! I have never owned a Bark River. what steel?

I briefly used my friends Montana knife company blade to open up a deer. I almost picked up my phone and ordered one. it was very good. sharp.

but my old trusty lightly used Benchmade Puukko hit hard as well. I would say mine stayed sharper.

CPM4V. Never had this steel before and dont know how easy it is to sharpen it. This model is new this year and a collaboration with 7Forge and mine says "first production run" on the blade. Got it from kniveshipfree.... There is only one youtube video out there and I wouldt call it much of a "review". Every year for 15 years I browse the BR offerings because I just want one but I can never decide or the one I want is no longer in production, or I get influenced by the bad reviews about recent QC issues....this one got my attention because of the shape and size. Although the finger choil is useless...its too small to get a finger in there. Im still happy with it.

Breasted out the first (hopefully not last) goose of the season with this last week. Super sharp, maybe a touch short for a big goose but overall a joy to use. A bit easy to cut into meat though when separating the skin.

Used this recipe to make jerky. Highly recommend! https://www.traeger.com/recipes/duck-breast-jerky?srsltid=AfmBOoqhnVRrKRXb4N-Ni69gBqrjl0U76xgdRnoDqud-6C5mM1nfCnYb

Bought this new in high school. This, my 870 BDL 12 gauge, and my Benjamin air rifle have journeyed with me for 40+ years now. Old friends.

Buck...the 110 a classic...one that began the entire locking blade folders market.
