Sadly our growing season in the PNW is short, so I prefer indeterminate varieties. Early Girl is a favorite. Darned yummy. We are only now getting red tomatoes. I have yet to enjoy a tomato sandwich or BLT. Looking forward....

I'm convinced that you have far too much money and free time. I request that you be taxed with more duties and cook for all of us, every meal.

I'm blown away by what you table on a continual basis.

Too hot. I know it sounds weird

From a website
Quote:
Sizzling summer temperatures can bring your previously productive tomato plants to a screeching halt. When days hit 85°F to 90°F and nights hover above 75°F, tomato flowers often fail to pollinate, then drop — which in turn puts new fruit production on hold. The longer the heat lasts, the longer those tomato flowers will continue to hit the pause button. In short, hot weather can delay your tomato crop.

Yes to that.

A pickup window on the street would be a good thing.
Just make dinner for 20-50.

Local Japanese place, not too fancy and good value. $12 for a large shrimp bowl, with broccoli, squash, and onion served over fried rice accompanied with Yum yum

Yes! A new one for me. That looks delicious. Are the pork balls sweet? I do love ham balls.

Lion's Head Meatballs (狮子头 – shīzitóu) are large pork meatballs that are steamed/braised and served with vegetables. Their name derives from their shape, which resembles the head of a Chinese guardian lion, or foo dog. It can be eaten any time of year, but is often served as a celebration dish!

Thank you for the kind words, I don't have too much of either but I do never rest, maximizing both.

I used to host extravagant dinner parties, another time, another life, would like to again in 2022. I feel like I need to step up my game these days. Working on that now in preparation.

It would be a rare treat to enjoy one of your creations. Hope I make the invitation list.

BTW if you are ever in SW Ohio, my kitchen is yours. We could create an extraordinary meal together.

We had another dinner last night that we only get in the summer. BLT with fresh tomato, fried corn, chopped tomato, and coleslaw. Everything but the sandwich came out of the garden. The sandwich looks weird because of the camera perspective. It is basic bacon, lettuce, and tomato, but I was short on bacon so I added some chipped ham for more protein. More bacon would be better. More bacon is always better.

You and your lovely wife will be on the list Patrick, that's a guarantee. I would love to host a Pelican banquet with John (jyl) and vash cooking all together. It would be epic and one of the best meals anyone ever had.

Back when I was coaching rowing right out of college we had annual dinners where I cooked for 30-40 kids. Took a week to prepare. Amazing parties they were. I love all the closeness and camaraderie inherent to great dinner parties. Miss it.

Here's a great one. I'm more of a meat and potatoes guy but the Wife sneaks a salad in every now and then.

Fresh peaches, roasted corn, basil and Buratta cheese with an olive oil/ white balsamic dressing. It's a GREAT salad in hot weather.

Yes fresh seasonal ingredients....got some sweet corn

And have company again :-)

Sweet corn agnolotti, butter/parm sauce, chorizo oil, chorizo crisp, garlic scapes.

The pasta pillows are simple, I rolled the dough to thin to hold the agnolotti shape... but so effing what..

Filling sauté sweet corn in olive oil, with s/p and chili flakes.. food processor with some mascarpone..

Make whatever stuffed pasta shape you like...

chop Spanish chorizo, sauté and crisp in olive oil..

boil pasta... melt butter in sauté pan, add some pasta water... add pasta... and some parm... let sauce form...

plate.. dress with chopped garlic scape..chorizo oil, crispy chorizo, and garlic flower..

Watch your date smile :-)
