(3) mistakes
1. didn't inform you prior that he was carrying into YOUR home. 2. Removed weapon from his person 3. When your wife apepred with the weapon, he put it back on a table. Sounds like he gets off on the attention of carrying--which is bad form. The whole point of CCW is that people don't know you are carrying. idiotic

Concealed is concealed. I don't even advertise to my wife when I'm carrying. No one should know.
Putting your loaded gun where you are not in control of it, and others can access it is criminally negligent, IMO.

Gun Safety
I just realized that many of you reading this thread may never have own guns or been around those who do.
Gun safey is extremely important to every gun owner I have ever known since I was a small boy. Forget about cop no cop. Here just a few common gun safety pratices: 1. You unload a weapon before you hand it to someone you[I] know[/I] to look at it. 2. You don't leave loaded weapons just laying around your house in the open when someone is coming over. 3. You lock it in the car glove box before you enter certain buildings. 4. Many people unload a weapon before entering a building and/or put it in a case. 5. Put away your guns as soon as you're done with them. 6. Many owners use gun safes or trigger locks. 7. Many owners store their guns in one place and the ammo in another. 8. You would NEVER take out your loaded hand gun in a house full of people, set it down, and leave the room! 9. You take responsability for your gun when it is around others! I'm certainly no expert, I don't carry (yet) and haven't been to a carrying class(yet), so you other responsible gun owners please add to the list if you can. This officer is as much a poster child for gun control as the drug user/dealer that leaves the loaded gun on the coffee table for the kids to find. I've personally never seen someone just leave a loaded hand gun lying around in my 52 years around them. I'd hate for anyone reading this thread that is not familiar with gun ownership and owners to think this cop represents any more than the smallest percentage of gun owners. He is in that small percentage that includes drug dealers, bank robbers, terrorists, and crazy people. And remember, gun control laws have no impact on criminals or the insane because by definition, they don't obey laws. This cop should be repremanded/punished. This incident should be reported. He might be starting to "lose it" and he certainly should not be teaching gun safety classes.

PBBBT...In the Cops case familarity with firearms bred contempt...he is so used to living with spoons that he just omitted thinking about it.

No exceptions to the rules when it comes to handling of firearms... The organization I teach with we've had ZERO (read that: 0) issues of injury. Safety always comes first with firearms.
In that light: The LEO should know not to leave a firearm where it can be easily handled; ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS A KID IN THE HOUSE. Now keep in mind you have a 7 year old kid. It is your discretion but teaching them at a young age the responsibility and caution in regards to firearms would be a good idea. Just make sure they understand that the firearm cannot do anything of it's own accord -- it will only do what you make it do.

So lets prosecute, try and convict the LEO for being a mindless cretin when it comes to his firearm and its safety. Or have U Boyz gotten so accustomed to the 24/7 news cycle that you have to beat every issue to death twice. Or is it that U Boyz are so bored with your lives that like the family dog you bark at anything for something to do.
