There will always be those who go for the money and whose lives will be cut short because of health issues. One of my best friends from high school had his life turn out this way. His family was always money oriented. He got stock for his birthdays instead of a bicycle or whatever. He became and attorney specializing in setting up banks, loan institutions, & other similar enterprises. He married an attorney. When I visited him in his late 30's, he had a huge house, plane, several expensive cars, house in Monterey, vacations in Europe yearly, and he said to me, "We've pretty much gone for the money." He died at almost 49 of brain cancer. The sad thing was he was still going for the money. It was sad, but I somehow felt not so bad about my life of kicking around until a later age.

Yep, I have a friend who "went for the money" and he's miserable. I like my "low income" life much better, thank you!

Two methods of happiness: Having what you want. Wanting what you have.
And yes indeed, there is a negative correlation between wealth and happiness.

I Agree. Having some money means:
Not getting stressed if the car breaks down, I have a spare car (the 911) and I can afford to fix the broken one if I choose. An illness or accident is not going to send me into bankruptcy (as it does many people). I have good insurance and can the afford co-pays and deductibles. If the house A/C goes out, I call someone out to fix it. Essentially I am not living on the edge as so many people today are, i.e. one missed pay check away from being broke. That doesn't guarantee happiness by any stretch but it certainly helps eliminate stress. I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, my wife and I worked long and hard to obtain some financial security and I feel fortunate to be in this position when so many people are in dire straights financially.

I dont know what the big mystery is. Iv always found money easily obtainable. Theres certainly no shortage of people willing to shell out for things they want or need. If you want money and your willing to work for it youll get it. If your too lazy you probrobly wont get any. When i see people that are broke i either see laziness or people that spend carelessly. Usually both

The most important things in life are not bought with money.
If you can support your wife/kids, maintain your home, take care of your responsibilities and have some extra for some recreation, that's may very well be enough. If your life is spent pursuing riches and you die wealthy, what good is that? I'm one of the happiest guys you'll ever find and I'm just 'getting by'... KT
