Tim, if you have one you can't move, can you lift up a few feet? Ye Olde Cinder blocks?
The next few days are going to be very interesting for our east coast people.... ![]() angela

![]() Good luck guys, I know some of you think its all hype, but looking it I would take precautions. I'm very familiar with storm hype, and this one looks different. This one looks bad... |

I drove to Cleveland yesterday for a gun show and it rained on the way there and on the way home... hard. Today, we had high winds and a 4-5 hour power outage. Nothing compared to what others are facing, but we're just 10 miles south of Detroit...

Well, this will certainly be an interesting couple of days here in NJ. Actually, a little too interesting for my liking, though.
Luckily, no flooding chance here, the only water around is the neighborhood creek, which is about 200 yds. away. Just have to worry about wind (big trees, power outages) and rain, which will turn our basement into a wading pool, if power is out for long while it's still raining. The P-cars are happily ensconced it their nice snug barn. Stay safe and well, and good luck to everyone in NJ NY CT PA area.

Started spitting rain here in eastern PA at around 5:00 this evening. Currently it's dry out with some wind blowing a little - maybe 15-20 mph at the surface. I'm getting out of here early (in a few hours) to head south towards Roanoke, maybe even a little further but I think that'll be okay insofar as getting out of harm's way. Looking at the precipitation maps I'm really glad I'll be south/west of this thing rather than north of it. Best wishes for folks in NJ especially who are going to get whacked. I hope there aren't too many left without power in NY, CT, RI, MA, NH, VT, ME, PA, etc. We seriously need better electrical distribution infrastructure in the northeast. It's really terrible how every time there's a storm so many people encounter disruptions. Best to all!!!

Barometer down to 1001this morning. Even though we're not getting the direct hit we're on the windy side of the storm. Long Island Sound is expecting up to an 11 foot storm surge. Basically the whole friggin' coast has been evacuated.

The coffee is on, still have power and the front yard is not under water yet. 50mph winds and according to the weather channel "light rain". Looks like the storm has changed direction and is heading closer to shore. This is going to be interesting. All you guys in Philly, NJ, and NY stay safe.

Our son was supposed to fly back (corporate aircraft) from KMDW into BDL around 5 PM this afternoon, thankfully he has rescheduled until possibly sometime tomorrow. Even then it could be a question but for now I'm relieved. He'll earn his keep over the next 48 hours.

In VA now - rainy, showery and a few gusts. Not terrible, just like any other crummy day. I'm sure it'll be a lot worse for folks up in Joisey & up that way. I always pick great weeks to go on vacation. Next year I'm going to Tahiti I swear...
Stay dry & safe all!

We are hunkered down here in Jersey City. I just took a spin around the 'hood on my bicycle to have a look at the waterfront during high tide (around 8:30ish this morning). I don't have any photos, but the Hudson river was raging. Took a few photos of the area:
A few shots of the Marina, <2000ft from my home. I keep a 32' sailboat here. ![]() ![]() Just beyond the fence here you can see some wood decking...that is the walkway beside the metal tracking for the travel-lift...totally submerged. ![]() Water level about 3 feet above prediction at the battery. Looks like its gotten to 4 feet subsequently. If the surge at next high tide is 6+ above this high tide, the floating docks in my marina may float off of their pilings ![]() ![]() wind levels and barometer at robbins reef (NY Harbor south of Liberty Island) ![]() Web address to track this stuff for anyone interested: New York/New Jersey Harbor PORTS®
