![]() This was as much a logistics decision as anything else. My son prefers .45 1911's so he got all those, including my Dad's Colt from Korea and Vietnam. I like 9mm more these days so I kept my BB Hi-Power and got the 92D to round out the herd. I am very comfortable with it after only a few hundred rounds.

Even if they need a tool to detach the magazine? At least the Mini-Slingteen is allowed!

So you can’t even have pepper spray to protect yourself from the bad guy with a knife, which don’t appear to be a banned weapon?

Most countries have way different laws then the US, they work in completely different ways, it's not just about banning specific items. it's mostly about intent.
The intent is what makes it banned at that point.. I reckon the same in Australia So the law only bans things that are outright illegal.. Pepper Spray, fire arms, tazers, things you cannot have a lawful reason to own and use. Possession of any of those, found no matter what situation.. is illegal. So pepper spray in most of Europe either.. or tazers But anything not specifically mentioned CAN and will get you charged with illegal possession of a weapons, IF the context and/or intent is there to use it as a weapon. Even if not mentioned specifically in the law. Think of it this way. You out in the bush, trekking, camping, sure you can have a knife on you, it's something you need out there. Fair play Mick, that's a nice Knoif ![]() Or you are out clubbing... on a saturday night in a big city Bad Mick, what you doing with that knoif in this pub Stand against the wall and yer under arrest for posession of an illegal weapon ![]() Huge Chef knife, well you cannot ban those can ya Every butcher or chef or even house wife needs a big knife to carve up the roast beef. But you can't carry em around on your person at will and then simply state, "but I was planning to carve me up a chicken later this evening" Doesn't even have to be a knife.. a Tire Iron is fine if you are in a garage.. But expect cops will give you a hard time carrying a tire iron when you are out on a protest march carrying a tire iron. The reverse also works.. an Auto Sear for an M16... You can't have that in the US.. Can't own it, full stop (NFA stamp is exception to that) Well, here in Belgium, Germany as well (not UK).. I CAN own one.. because it doesn't do anything. I can at best poke somebodies eye out with it, by throwing it at em. here, the thing they ban/regulate, is the receiver ,the barrel and more recently the magazines. But if you happen to own an AR15.. Then that Auto Sear becomes a problem Because somebody with intent can just install it and presto select fire AR. You really don't want a knowledgeable cop to see an auto sear in your gun safe next to an AR 15. I'll admit.. chances of getting caught are near to non existent.. and the punishments aren't as bad for simple possession of an NFA sear as would in the US (federal crime).. But obviously ,any violation can result in permits being revoked.. so that would suck to the legal gun owner.

Can't post a vid and I don't wanna upload to youtube but a buddy picked up a new MG last weekend, we went to the range/FFL/SOT for a "conjugal visit" while he waits for his tax stamp to come in.
We're thinkin about 1200 rounds/sec.... https://itsjustcrap.com/miniuz/ <-- regular speed and slow-motion mag dump vids |

I'm not sure if I posted pictures of this rifle before as I am too lazy to scroll through all the posts? Anyways it has a walnut stock I bought for $4 at one of out Rod and Gun Club semi annual meetings and on the way out another member said he had a barrel that he wasn't ever going to use and he paid $350 for it so I said okay. I bought an L&R lock and trigger, already had the trigger guard and had to use layers of leather to build up the rear stock cheek area as the stock was going to be a flint lock. The scope is a Wm Malcom copy from Optics Planet and is 8 power, similar to a John Unertl USMC model. I have it shooting 540 grain grease groove bullets out to 300 yards now (max length of our range) at about 1/2 MOA or better if I am feeling better!
I found out that the barrel is a gain twist made by Ron Smith in Canada so it was a steal for me! Twist starts at 1 in 24 ends at 1 in 15 at the muzzle. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes, John, you've posted it. But that's o.k. The only reason I remember is because of the reference to the Ron Smith gain twist barrel. One of my teammates had one screwed onto an original Meacham Highwall action done up in French Grey, and chambered in .45-2.6". We traded wins at the 1,000 yard line at Fort Lewis for years (I think I got the better of him in the long run...), me shooting my C. Sharps Model 74 in the same chambering. We both shot the 540 grain Paul Jones Creedmoor, but he seated his way out with three grease grooves showing and about 110 grains of powder. I seated mine deep with no grease grooves out and only about 80 grains of powder. He shot backrest and had the sight on the heel of the stock, while I shot prone with the sight in the standard location on the tang. I think his gain twist was much more aggressive, though, like a 3:1, ending one in 18" at the muzzle.
Pretty rifle. You can post it again in awhile, if you want... ![]()

Carrying a knife in South Australia will get you a $10,000 fine and/or two years in jail. This law was introduces about 25 years ago as a response to several stabbings were a chef or cooking knife was used. There was a gang war raging at the time (turf and drugs). A cop told me they would leave the knife in place rather than pull it out because it lessens the chance of someone bleeding to death so there would be no murder investigation. And a chef or cooking knife is relatively cheap compared to a fighting knife. What disturbed me the most about these stabbings? - They used "maim but not kill" tactics. Which means they were organised crime related and premeditated.

That's the minimum sentence?
We got similar laws, but the sentences are a joke compared to yours

1. If you're a technician and you keep a folded knife in your tool kit then the cops wouldn't do anything except confiscate the knife and take your name. (How would they even know you had it? If it was during a search for drugs etc I'm guessing you'd have other things to worry about.)
2. If you're a Bikie and you're carrying a Bowie Knife in a Pub or night club? - They will throw the book at you! 2 years minimum and a $10,000 fine. 3. What if you're caught with an unlicensed pistol in South Australia? That happened recently and the guy got 7 years.

It's actually more flat black with the Nitron coating, must have been the lighting. A newer pic but now it looks like I was eating a glazed doughnut while working the slide (just a reflection of the factory lube)....
