Thanks Byron! It does seem to be the 1989 Sting Team, now that I was able to google that specifically. In this picture, you can see both rear brakes (?!) mounted and what looks like a dual pull lever mechanism. Why not just run a front brake?

Here is one with just the U-brake

and a thread on the bike.

That frame is Nickle plated underneath, clean that spray bomb off and see how she cleans up.

Officially love OfferUp, Free to good home:

Cannondale M700 with a few upgrades including the M C 2000 stickers because he thought it looked like a 'Mall Cop' bike.

I rescued this from the trash. Unknown Japanese frame and old Shimano components. Put on some new parts and ditched the drop bars. Finally got it adjusted so it’s comfortable to ride. Feels super fast in comparison to my Bianchi city bike.
I’m not a cyclist, just a commuter.

^ Vintage goodness. That 600 Shimano stuff is well-regarded.

Be sure to lock that thing up, or someone will come and drink your milkshake!

Glad you like it!

The Shimano 600 works well...All I did was replace the chain, cables and brake shoes.

Thankfully here in Japan people are much less prone to theft...But back in NYC even with a serious lock I still lost an entire bike, several wheels and a saddle in 15 years living there.

Two new stablemates. Berk is a small slovakian custom builder in his early twenties. Bike is amazing and very light, about 5.8 kg as built. The Ottrott needs no introduction.

Jeff Alton 01-27-2019 06:13 PM

That Berk is super cool. Just did a little research on them. Nice stuff.

The Serotta is a Ti frame and carbon fork? Or is there carbon elsewhere in the frame?

What size are those bikes?

Its ti headtube, carbon downtube, tt, and seatstays. Seatube and chainstays ti.
It has a bent seatstay that is Dave Kirk's signature. There's actually a bearing pivot at the cs/ss junction. Its very smooth, actually deceptive till you look at the metrics on the power/speed. But what's best is the rear compliance makes it RAIL downhill. It was a "doctor / lawyer" bike when built but it has cojones.

Jeff Alton 01-27-2019 06:45 PM

Super cool, thanks for the info!
