He likes BMX it is a good starting point.

He's gotten a bit too big for that. he only rode it several times. He wanted to get air but just didn't have the speed or the know how to do it at the age of 8. He gave up after a few months of riding it. I gotta sell it. What's so special about the wheels or the crank, so I am told?

Hah, no, not 9 feet tall, a normal 6'2" - just freakishly long legs.

Thanks for the Basso love. You're right about the rear triangle. And I'd forgotten how low the BB is on these 80's bikes. And those 21 tires! Thin like blades!

I remember the first Basso I saw was way back at a race. We were done with the Jr's race so we stuck around to see real racing, the senior I, II's. There was a crash, few guys pull off and there's this Basso Gap leaning up against the fence. It was the typical Gios blue with white lettering. That was the first time I even seen one been in love with them ever since.

BTW, forget 21 mm tires. I went to 23, then over to 25 at 95 psi. 25 barely fits.

Say, you want to pull a pic of a tire off the net and post it here. Often I google the name of tire and it pops up from Google image. But often it doesn't post or blocks it. What do you do to get it to work?

Me too. I usually crop stuff or at least check the scale and the rez in photoshop so it doesn't upload extra large or tiny.

I had those 21's left over from something, I thought it would be fun to see what they were like. I've got 'em inflated to about 100 back, 90ish front.

That blue gap is outstanding. New Old Stock! Needs a NOS SUPER Record gruppo!

That's good stuff. They are way over built and when I had them (switched over form Campy because they just didn't work) it never missed a shift. A bit heavy compared to today's Group set, but the feel is very heavy and mechanical.

Yeah, until they don't. The right brifter isn't 100 percent happy. I'll see if WD 40 or solvent will fix the issue, otherwise I'm looking at a hefty bill for a good used one.

What's it not doing? I know the 9 spd had issues with it sitting. The grease solidified keeping the cable from moving. I shot degreaser in there and it freed up then lubed up with a white lithium grease and its worked ever since. That bike doesn't get use often especially since it being the left shifter.

Anyway the blue Basso with the yellow tape looks beautiful. That's what a proper road racing bicycle should look like
