^Great book. Some of the best info out there on bike training is hidden in some $2 forgotten used book on amazon.

There are some great long distance cycling books from the same time period. Highly recommended. Something about a century, and then a book on riding a double century. I think "The Complete Book of Long-Distance Cycling" is a good one

In other more self gratuitous news- Pimpin my Nishiki. I found it in a ditch. I'm gonna go pimpin' white 1920's style tires and a ****eload of velo orange is coming in the mail. You might have to endure another pic or two of this as things get sorted out.

original "in ditch" pic":

Nishiki two (originally a Trek left in a trashcan) last damn pic you have to endure this summer -

And finally, the Cimarron, another freeby from the bike store I worked at, thus concluding my "frames were free but the parts are what get ya'" party pace fall line bike collection:

^what is it with Nishiki! I have a frame from a bike I rode in the 80’s that’s a Nishiki built by Colnago!

My 1984 Gitane Team Pro that I sold several years ago. Took almost 2 years to find all the correct parts to build it. Had a Bernard Hinault Turbo saddle and LeMond Super Record chainrings as a tribute. Even the TA bolts for the water bottle cages were 'correct'. OCD?

My 1985 Gitane Professional, also sold long ago.

I think the water bottle was $125 - NOS original, not a reproduction.

^^^Sx1000?

Hitting the cloud line at Wintergreen. RV coming down adjacent mountain for perspective. 50 degrees and pouring rain several minutes later. Can't believe it's time to start thinking about winter gear again.

Actually a 77 Schwinn Competition Scrambler, from when you have a choice of a Sting-Ray scrambler and that.

OK- more pics from this weekend. I bought a sexy Velo Orange rack, levers, and bars for the Nishiki, but realized a pizza rack fit it better( I do need a pizza bike btw- the Nishiki will do fine ), dropped on the VO bars, levers, kept pizza rack, and here the final glamour shot:

-Leaving me needing another bike to put the VO rack on. Hmmmmm....The only thing laying around was my 2003 fondreist, unused, mounted in a basement trainer.

Several hours later...Total heresy. F*** all the bike genres. This eff'r hauls ass faster than the SR71 Blackbird, even with the upright conversion.
