Several hours later...Total heresy. F*** all the bike genres. This eff'r hauls ass faster than the SR71 Blackbird, even with the upright conversion.

This is Fricking Coolistic.

What's the white frame in the middle? My mind wanna say GT, but it feels more like a JMC. JMC- Final answer! What is it?

edit- a bike group just dubbed my Fondriest the "reverse mullet" - party in the front, roadie in the back. THIS, the "Reverse Mullet" is the bike I will take to Hilton Head in 2024 (assuming there is a 2024 )

(And the batteries still work!) WIN!

The smoothing on the SRM is also night and day above my Garmin power readouts.
If my eyesight wasn't going south for the small SRM screen readout, I'd take the SRM all day long.

^^^ I've actually been thinking about getting one. I occasionally ride without a helmet Yeah, I know: "are you out of your freekin idiot mind!". These are generally on short 'zone 2' training rides on nearly deserted roads when the humidity and temps are in the 90s. It's much cooler, I enjoy it and that's that.

Yes! If I had vintage stuff like yours, I'd definitely wear the 'harnut'.

I still have one bike with rat trap pedals (soon to be 2: working on a vintage 'strada' track bike), so it would go good with my vintage Sidi shoes, cleats, toe clips and leather straps

Yes, a JMC, my Retro JMCs, Azusa, these were built with Jim Melton's blessing and very limited number (20, 25 and 15 of each size)

I like to do one L'Eroica ride some day. I don't have shoes with cleats anymore. Throw 'em all out. Modern shoe are too thick (with 10 speed drive cleats) and find it very difficult to just kick the quit and flip the pedal and enter the cage. Being strapped in is a must for me on any ride.

I was going thru some photos and came across my 1987 Alpineer when I first got it. It's been TEN years! Doesn't seem possible. There's some discussion way back in this thread and that was very helpful in determining exactly what I had. I rode the bike fairly regularly the first couple of years, but it's become a wall hanger (wall art?). But for the 10th anniversary, I got it down today, detailed it, tuned it and took it out for a ride. What a fantastic bike. 7-speed downtube shifter corncob freewheel hollow pin chain awesomeness. That early 7400 Dura Ace derailleur with SIS shifters is crisp and flawless.
