Yeah, it's kind of scary... and sad. I tried to find an even older pic in the same place and couldn't but I bet it's looked the same for much longer than 6 years.

Reconfigured, riding, and smiling!!!!
![]() I slapped some spares on my FB marketplace Pepé Le Pew Lapierre and now have a killer cx wannabee. Most of the roads nearby are paved, or light gravel, so 38c is more than enough. Other than the canti's, it's a modern day french crux. Total racing geometry. "Ah, my darling, I love you....Oui oui"

Emonda is just about complete. I didnt think to order a derailleur battery when I ordered everything else so waiting on that and a second bottle cage. Trek makes water bottle cages that match the frame so I had to go with them vs the high dollar carbon cages. Should come in right at 16 lbs.

Sub 16 with that heavy bottle cage. Nicely done. (1x drivetrain and that enormous chainring and the tiny cassette (is that a 28?) - you're stronger than I'll ever be!)
That is a beautiful build! The sunlight will make that paint sparkle plenty!

Houston is obviously very flat but even with head winds, I’m thinking 46 chainring and 10-28 cassette will be fine. When I head to the hills I’ll switch to a 10-36 cassette. It’s still an experiment tho.

Nice latest and the greatest bike, Dave. I like it. There are a couple younger guys that are riding a single front ring on our training ride. The ride is not flat by any means totaling of about 1500-1700' of climbing (some steep off the saddle 1/4 miles climbs), but the small ring isn't needed. That pearly color is very nice under the sunlight. Some of them even change color depending on the angle of view.
Here's my kid's Emonda. He doesn't ride it much much anymore but a few times a year with me. School and volleyball has taken much of his free time plus, he rather hang out with his friends then riding a stupid bike. We had a great time for a couple years riding few times a week teaching him how to ride a bike. Oh yeah, that's his yellow "old man bike".

That Colnago is beautiful. I'd have it hanging in my house!

I finally got my hands on a new/used Dura Ace 7400 brifter and had a chance to ride my Basso for the first time in I don't know how long. 10 years? More?
It climbs surprisingly well for an 'ancient' 8 speed bike with really heavy wheels, (and an old boy at the wheel) and the fit was a lot more comfortable than I expected, but I'm not sure if I want to do 50 miles and 4000 feet on it. (Those 23's look like o-rings, and the bars are definitely not modern!)

![]() Noce bike of the past. Do what Peter does, modern parts. I bet 4 lbs + can be reduced easily. Then take it on your 50 miler and bring on the hills Love the fastback seat stays. Cinelli did it first I believe? |

I finally got the new-old-stock Emonda out for a ride. This was my first time on a 1x gear train fast bike and I liked it. I was worried the 46 tooth chainring vs my previous 50 would make noticeably large gearing gaps on the small end of the cassette but it was fine. I do think I'll stick with the 10-28 in Houston since I'll probably use the 14-15-16 gears the most and the 14 and 16 aren't on the 10-36 cassette. The real test will be a proper fast group ride.
This is my first disc brake fast bike and even though I've owned disc brake bikes before, I've never properly learned to adjust the brakes. On mountain bikes I've gotten them pretty good vs on this bike they really need to be perfect since any rub will kill speed. Last night I took time to set the calipers: I tried a flashlight making sure there's clearance between both pads and the disc and used feeler gauges on both sides of the disc. Both methods required hand gymnastics to get the gap right and tighten the bolts without losing the position. Ultimately I found the flashlight method to be best. The other thing I've finally realized is how sensitive discs are to contamination. I've had squeals and screeches with other discs due to cleaning products, finger prints, dirt, etc so this time I'm being super careful not to get anything on the discs.

That's a good looking bike. Nice color choice on the bar-tape. I can't wait to hear about fast group rides!
You can buy a disc caliper thingy that helps spread the pads a little during setup, its really just 2 feeler gauges bridged together to hold them to the rotor. http://www.danscomp.com/origin8-brake-disc-caliper-alignment-tool-xba-41/p767438?srsltid=AfmBOorhTd3ZL_huGaDUf3NA2zrwYYD9uP weiQy1h2k1okdUoxLksko9S3A I might also suggest a mounting cup with a lanyard for your Varia light. I know one guy who lost his expensive radar because it fell off and he never knew until he got back to the car. ![]()
