That's not a very high optioned car. Sport Classic wheels are heavy and suck to clean, it has an aftermarket stick-on fake carbon fiber dash kit, stick on door trims (broken on driver's side), those are supple leather not sport seats, and a painted center console (which I like). LSD is about the only worthwhile option.

2001 PORSCHE 911 TURBO.80K MILES.MINT CONDITION.HRE WHEELS.GT-3 SEATS.

2001 996tt for $35,500 has all maintenance records and is negotiable. It does have 80k miles.

Do you think this is a good deal considering you can part out the oem GT3 seats and the HRE wheels. It doesn't come with stock parts but you can get seats and wheels for pretty cheap.

What do you guys think?

Thanks guys. I will keep looking.

At 73 years old do NOT need a turbo and bad hands require a tip.

How much downforce do you think this wing generates?

On a serious note, how about this one? Overpriced? Too many miles?

The Carrera 4 cab might be a decent deal at about $17k or $18k if it has been maintained. Cabs are cheap, but at least that one is a 6 speed 4.

Came across this today, looks like a really good deal.

Something is fishy. Too cheap. Or a great deal.

This one is on the Pelican Porsches for sale page:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/899815-1999-911-carrera-996-cabriolet-53k.html

Low miles, recent 60K service plus new clutch, RMS & IMS done. If it wasn't completely across the country, I would at least take a look.

I am not a fan of the hard top cabs, although I do appreciate they make the car much more practical in the north.

And although that car looks good ,I don't believe there is a '99 cab that's worth $23k.

Well, according to this seller, 996 cars are appreciating!

Learn something new around here everyday.

If 996s are appreciating he should hang on to it while it climbs in value. He's just not thinking this through and being hasty with the sale.

Just out of curiosity anyone know how much the removable hardtop weighs? How difficult are they to remove/install?

1990C4S 02-03-2016 09:06 AM

Yellowperil has one..or his brother does I think.

I still want to know how quiet they are. Maybe ugly but effective?

Paul_Heery 02-03-2016 09:18 AM

A 996 Cab hardtop weighs 74lbs. (33.5 Kilograms). It is not really heavy but requires two people to install.

onewhippedpuppy 02-03-2016 10:45 AM

I've had a hardtop on several Boxsters. While they do make it slightly quieter and a little better insulated, the tops on modern convertibles are pretty damn good. It's a nice bonus but I wouldn't pay extra for one.

$25K 2003 C4S 6-Speed with new IMS bearing, new clutch, new tires, turbo brakes, lightweight wheels. Good color combo. This would be a great car if you could pick it up for around $23K.

I have my hardtop for the rear window defroster.

True. Though the newer (2002+ I think) 986/996 have glass rear convertible top windows with defrost.
