This is a good read about the online dating scene. Married for 32 years so I have no idea about the dating scene.

Adventures in Online Dating - The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum

There is some funny stuff there.

What a time suck! I read that entire thread (149 pages) in the past 2 days!

Great read, though.
I skimmed it, that guy has a gift for writing. Entertaining but also heartfelt.

Sorry to hear your experience is less than rewarding. I found online dating to be a hoot....if kept in perspective for what it is.

I took the liberty to do a quick search of threads you've started in here to see if I could glean a little about you to offer my advice. What I found:

1. You're a picky eater
2. You're plagued by chronic rashes on your butt
3. You have hot flashes
4. You sleep walk
5. You have difficulty making guy friends
6. You own a Pekingnese (hey they're cute...FWIW I own a Cavalier but he was a rescue pooch)
7. You're in your early thirties
8. Still live with your parents? (Just a guess from a reference to your mom and dad walking your dog and your brother's hamster...ARMAGEDON!!!! ARMAGEDON!!!!)
9. You're a "creative" writer/producer
10. You have difficulty showing interest in meeting new people because they're boring or stupid
11. You don't like kids around in social situations
12. You get banished to the friend zone by women from time to time
13. You're a fan of the TV shows GLEE and Nip & Tuck
14. You drive a Miata

Hmmmmmmm......no clue as to what the problem is with online dating.

(Just kidding....had to bust your chops, AFC. It'll get better.)

No problemo.

1. Definitely a picky eater...But getting better lately.
2. Still don't know what that was, but it mysteriously disappeared. (Thank God, cause that was a pain in the ass...Literally!)
3. Hasn't happened in a while, but could reoccur at some point.
4. I might sleepwalk. That hasn't been definitely proven. No roommates or friends have ever said I did.
5. I hate guys...except for the ones I grew up with or went to college with.
6. I do have a Pekingese...My gay brother bought that one...Just like the hamster.
7. I am.
8. The dog was for my dad who had a stroke. It gives him something to do. (it's technically not mine...When I say my dog it really means family dog)
9. Guilty as charged.
10. Not really...People like me even if I don't like them.
11. Depends on the kids.
12. Yep.
13. Ryan Murphy shows are good for a while then turns into crap.
14. I sold the Miata 2 years ago?

Anyway, the experience has gotten a wee bit better. I've gotten a handful of dates the last couple of weekends.

If there's anything I've learned from the THT thread, it's:

a) Get rich
b) Get a boat
c) profit?

Girls like boats.

Sorry about your dad's stroke. I had a stroke last year and its a beyotch. I'm recovering but still have some residual issues. My dogs definitely helped with my recovery.

Glad things are looking up on the social scene.

FWIW I met current GF of 2 1/2 years online. She has been great....even stood by me when I had stroke. But then again she is a nurse.

Sorry to hear about your stroke...That's got to be tough. My dad pretty much quit the recovery process. He's stuck with wobbly stride and one arm.

Good job on landing a nurse. Did you post on the "How to marry a nurse" thread? You could help out some of the guys there. :P

been single since last wednesday. already been on 3 dates, and 3 more planned. one tonight, one saturday, and one monday.

its like shooting fish in a barrel.

i told myself when i broke up with this recent girlfriend, i was gonna go slow. not go out in break my record of 7 dates, with 6 girls, in 5 days, but man, you just send 10-20 messages, and all of a sudden you got half a dozen dates with interesting, good looking girls lined up .... its too easy.

I met my beautiful wife of 2 years on-line and it would have never happened if I wasn't out there.
You just need to be picky with who you meet and you will find there are some really nice people out there.
The very first person I met after only 2 weeks I spent the next 4 years with.

According to my buddy, the one I mentioned before: If you are a 50 plus year old man and have more hair above, rather than in, your nose (or look good bald), can see little richard in the shower when you look down, don't smoke, drive a car with a functioning catalytic converter and have enough money for an occasional Red Lobster fest, the world of online dating is your oyster.

Hmm. How low do your standards have to be? Because, if I take those minimal criteria and imagine the female equivalent, well, I could think of important things to do in the garage.

Bingo. I get an azzload of work done around my house now. And I'm much happier.

Good women of that 'vintage' are one in a thousand. You need a pleasant person who's not bitter that stayed in shape. I'd have better luck looking for a barn find 356.

I ran my course years ago.

Have one new pic for my profile. I've gotten old.

pretty much true.

at 27, as long as you live in your own place (maybe even with roommates, idk, i live alone), have a job, have a car, and can have a half decent conversation - you can kill it. and with some shockingly attractive and intelligent women. last night i was out with a a 26 year old who is in school to be a vet, already has her undergrad degree in biology, works at a medical device company, and was pretty good looking.

other men, just make it so easy to rise to the top, hahaha

I would just a few short years ago. Don't crash your car, lesson learned.

If you're white. (they've done studies on this, btw. So, I'm not off base)

Got all those things. I've written witty, thoughtful and funny messages that are just ignored.

And I'm not writing the supermodel types either...Only thing I can think of is that they read it, look at the pics and move the **** on.
