I wear the pants in my household, though I REALLY try to share them. My wife was raised mormon, so she defers EVERY decision to me, to an extent it's annoying. I try to go to her to discuss something I'm thinking of doing, and her response is ALWAYS, "Whatever you want, babe." It's frustrating.

Had a C3 prior to the 911. I built it with a full solid roller stroker motor(383 500hp/500tq type) and a full VBP suspension while I liked it, the vette in no way compares to the 911.
When you start getting into C5 and C6 Z06's they're a lot car. The C6 with 500hp and a dry sump is bullet proof. Unfortunately, I'm not adult enough to own something like that. My latest acquisition is a blast to drive and not likely to make me lose my driver's license. ![]()

The reason I don't own one is I think they are too fast to be enjoyable.

What does it mean if you consult with your girlfriend (soon to be fiancé) about your obsession with Porsches and she encourages you to get one soon?

A few weeks ago I was just getting ready to leave a store when I see a yellow C6 Z06 pulling in. I noticed the cowl induction hood as he got closer and then I heard the whine of a blower. The guy pulled up next to us(leaving an empty space between
). As the occupants got out I commented on what a nice car they had. The guy and I spent the next 30 minutes talking cars(his wife went into the store to shop, telling him she would be back). His Vette was a Lingenfelter with a supercharger. He claims it has 600 RWHP. I didn't question that as it is entirely possible. He remarked how he had always wanted a 911 but didn't know much about them. I filled him in on what years would be best and some of the myths. When we got home, my daughter told my wife "Dad has ANOTHER car buddy now". A car guy is a car guy and there is no reason to not show respect to another person's pride and joy, even if it isn't your cup of tea. Had I not had my daughter with me I would have taken him up on going for a ride.

76, 78, and an 85 that I cloned into a 96 grandsport. The 70's cars looked great, but that was about it. The 85 was a decent all around car for its time, somewhat quick, and decent around the turns, but rode like a dumptruck with bad shocks. I was just getting tired of Iron v8's, and got into 911's right after my last vette.
I would probably own another if the timing was right

Well said. I drove a C6 Z06 that belonged to a friend, what a brutally fast car. That was just stock, supercharged would be another level of crazy.

So I thought I saw this OP's car for sale here in Tampa this morning: 2007 CORVETTE INDY 500., but alas it is car #249, not #294. Still kind of ironic to find one. I was only looking because I read through this thread last night and got curious. The Corvette shape is iconic and I wouldn't mind owning one someday... even the C4 as I think they represent Corvette's version of the mid-year... much unloved but will still be desirable to those who want in the game on a budget.
I do have to comment, however, that most of the C4s and even the C5 to some extent had really ugly steering wheels. It reached a pinnacle of ugliness with the rectangular monstrosity that graced the last of the C4 interiors in the mid-'90s. Why did they think it was a good idea to take something from the Caprice parts bin and put it in the icon? GM for you, I guess. |

![]() I would think the aftermarket may have fixed the C4's deficiencies, I'm sure I will never find out.

Even the guys that love early Corvettes say they drive like a truck. If I'm going to drive a truck, it had better be a pretty truck. The C4 doesn't check that box for me. Plus you have to deal with a GM 1980s interior, pretty much the low point of American automotive design and manufacturing.
On the upside Shaun, they are CHEAP. So you can experiment with minimal investment.

I had a 58 Vette with a mild built 327 and went thru the T-10. It was a hoot.
I'd have another one today if they weren't so pricey. None of the later ones (post 62) for anything for me.

I have owned an 82 vette since I was 17. It was cool to drive as a teenager and in college and university. I havent driven it since... And then I got into Porsches.
