Glad to see you are still hanging in there. Winter coming on certainly doesn't help things.

Well Dennis you seem to have come out of a bad situation. I remember splitting up from my first wife. It was not a good feeling at the time but later felt that I had done the right thing. Will pm you my cell phone no. I cannot remember if I did already!
Cheers, Guy

Dennis - hang in there and take one day at a time! We are always here if you need to rant or just vent.

Just remember that alcohol is the greatest treatment for anxiety ever discovered on earth but it's the absolute worst treatment for depression. You'd be better off huffing spray paint. Be very careful.

Dennis, glad to hear its getting better. Remember its always darkest before the dawn! But please be careful with the drinking. Is there anything else you can do to destress? Drinking will certainly exacerbate any depression or health issues!

+1 on this. Also exercise such as walking, running help clear the mind, promotes sleep. Golf in summer of course in our part of the world. Harvey Penick (golf pro) said that golf promoted more beneficial thoughts . Some may dispute this! Have been walking about 1-2 hours a day lately. Helps in every way. You just have to make time for it. If you don't have your health then that is not good....

Denis - I see that you are a second degree connection on LinkedIn to me. You work with a friend of mine who also recently joined your company's legal department.

If you want to go for coffee and chat about Porsches, let me know.

Dennis, you only die on one day. You've got all the others until then. Make the most of them, every single one of them.

The first day of this change will be the worst. Every day will get better after that. The change may be indiscernible, but it will get better.

Dude, it's rough but these things will pass. Sorry to hear that's what you want to do.

Threads like this remind me of how important relationships are to people. Dennis, you may be reaching out for a little support but it's definitely a two way street - we all enjoy helping. That could also be a therapeutic avenue for you to explore; keep an eye out for someone or some cause that needs your help.

Without friendship we whither and die, physical health issues are a big concern but they are nothing compared to our mental health and happiness. I do realize that it's a lot easier to be happy if your healthy but physical health is not a prerequisite for happiness and ultimately that is what is important.

I would encourage you to focus on your priorities and take steps to make it happen. Hopefully one of those priorities is friendship, there are lots of people who would appreciate your friendship.

BTW, regarding the cholesterol issue, check it out but I think that most current research shows that chronic inflammation is the real issue with cholesterol. Take steps (including stress management) to control the inflammation and a lot of health issues clear up. The routine that seems to work for me is moderate exercise including walks (preferably in a natural setting), gut health (lots of fiber and fermented stuff) and a 16:8 hrs fasting/eating schedule.

When you find something that works for you please share it with us.

All the best to you Dennis and I hope that your ex has found some happiness in her new life also.

Paul

Dennis,

First I'm hearing/reading about this, sorry to hear.

I'm always a phone call away whenever you want to talk, ***** or swear.

I still need a mentor buddy so stay focused on living life, not surviving....

Sandy 2 weeks before she passed away from ovarian cancer at 67 told me in our last coherent conversation, "Tabs I am dieing, and it's not fair." As she softly hit the sofa with the side of her clenched fist.

Sandy wanted to live.

Hello Dennis. Wishing you well from the Great White North. If you can in some way start do to some exercise. Begin very slowly (Walking/Biking/Light Weights) or something else you may enjoy (hobby). It will turn your life around. Also, get some sun or go to a tanning bed for Vitamin C,D,E. Please put the bottle down sometime soon. It will make things worse. You can do this.
