Another plug for Bosch here....not a high $ unit either (they're all disposable crap at that price level imo)....had mine for 8-9 years now...no issues.

Have had a Bosch for 8 years. No problems. It's the best kitchen appliance we have and maybe the best household appliance.
Ours has all controls and lights hidden creating a clean face. Looking back, something on the door to alert to "clean" status would be nice. |

Bosch.
Can barely hear it when it's washing.

I though automatic dishwashers lead to male sterility and obesity.

Well, we had been leaning towards Miele however we might be swayed a bit to Bosch. The few sites I could visit seemed to say the Miele had better reliability overall, Bosch a better repair network.
We are on septic (installed a hybrid system) so we will not use detergents with bleach in the machine. As such a plastic interior will work just as well as a stainless though it will not last/wear as well overall. We are not brand loyal (Bosch and LG washers, LG dryer, Kenmore stove) but tend to shop scratch and dent and closed out models if they had good reviews overall. Next is to replace the temporary fridge we borrowed. Wife likes a specific LG model, we will see. That is a few months off.

The Bosch are very good machines and even their entry models are very nice. The price goes up with noise insulation. I have a mid-grade machine - it has been flawless. I like the dot it projects on the floor when it is on. Zero controls or lights on the front. Also like that there are no heaters exposed. No more melted bottle caps or other things hanging down.

I don't understand the noise problem. I turn my dishwasher on and go to bed. I don't care how loud it is.
Do people run the dishwasher while they are working in the kitchen, or watching TV in the next room over?

very happy with our 2 year old Maytag. Got stainless interior and quiet operation. sincerely dislike shopping for appliances. seems there are millions of people out there posting bogus 'best of' websites in the appliance area.

We got a Bosch 5-6 years ago. Does a great job, stays clean and is quiet. No problems.

Noise issue is for people who have the kitchen in the same room as other activities. In the home I grew up in we just closed the door into the kitchen, no more noise issues. In the new home our kitchen sits in one corner of the main room with a tall ceiling. If you wish to watch a movie or have conversations after dinner and want to run the dishwasher then you will have to work over the noise level.
In our other home the kitchen was off to the side as a sound buffer. The Frigidaire was quiet enough we never heard it. The higher end GE was like someone was running a blender in the same room, insulation and all. The GE had a plastic tub, the Frigidaire was stainless. In our first home we both stood at the sink and hand-washed as there was no room for a dishwasher (1100 sqft 2/1 home). However we go it will not be with a top end of the brand, out of our budget level.

Our maybe 12 years old kitchenaid is still going strong with no problems. Probably not comparable to new ones?
It's Cindy's kitchen...I don't mess with it. If she doesn't have a complaint, neither do I. If she does have a complaint, then I hear about it. ![]() (edit) Cindy looked it up. We bought in June of '07.
