The most awesome shovel for driveways

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Suncast-24-in-Combo-Snow-Shovel-and-Pusher-SC2450/207206778?keyword=suncast+shovel+24
1). Wide 24" scoop reduces total walking. I finished in about 1/3rd the normal time and am not trashed.
2). High sides keep snow in for clean lines.
3). Lightweight. Not a feather but this thing is made sturdy. Broke two last year and this one is a good balance.
4). Metal strip cuts though ice mounds. I didn't notice any twisting or looseness.
5). Even has a crosshatch where it's gripped.

Work some liquid carnuba wax into all the crevices and this thing will glide effortlessly.

I see I'm not the only one with a little driveway OCD.

What's a snow shovel ? You can easily detect the transplanted northerners in my hood...they have 'em and dutifully clear their sidewalks and driveways...first thing. Me....I just wait for it to melt while consuming the three gallons of milk and four loaves of bread I bought when the storm hit...usually takes a day for the snow to melt. Southerners...."we" lose our freakn' minds when snow invades...I'll admit to that...but I'm NOT buying a snow shovel!!!!

Around here there seems to be a mad rush to the grocery store to buy up the "the three whites" milk, bread and toilet paper.

All I can guess is there is a craving for French toast and they get diarrhea after eating it for days on end after buying up several loaves of bread and gallons of milk. I don't understand it at all.

I do have a snow shovel, but it has a curved handle. More ergonomic. The last snow we had was 1.2 inches back in January. Hopefully we will never ever see snow here ever again. Let it stay in the mountains or up in Yankee land were it belongs!

Impressive, it looks like the handle shaft runs almost all of the way down to the edge to support the shovel head. My only thought would be if it's that wide and deep, and you get heavy, wet snow, that might be a pain (heavy) to shovel compared to a smaller head.

I've heard that the rate of heart attacks goes up in the winter from all of the old couch potatos shoveling snow.

I actually enjoy using the snow shovel on cold winter mornings. I have a gas-powered snow thrower to do my 150 ft blacktop drive, but sometimes I do it with the shovel. Good exercise..need it by the time spring arrives.
Looks like a good shovel...esp for the price.

You are correct. Use the right tool for the job as always. There are different kinds of snow. For the heavy pack followed by quick deep freezing we northerners gotta break out the ice picks sometimes. The best way is to stay on top of it.

Wax your shovels, folks!
Your back will thank you later. This made a huge difference.

best one I had was a plastic plow about 2' wide on a shovel handle. Just pushed the snow off sidewalks w/o lifting. Wore it out, have not seen another since.

Edit: found it: https://www.grainger.com/product/4KGN7?cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!50916699237!!!g!82166180757!&ef_id=Wh9aEgAAAqIqdFQm:20171212153435:s&kwid=productads-adid^50916699237-device^c-plaid^82166180757-sku^4KGN7-adType^PLA

That metal strip wears down so eventually you get these horrible lines usually down the center of the row or maybe slightly to the left of center if your right-handed and to the right if your left-handed due to unequal downward pressures.

To counter this you must alternate handedness not with alternating passes but with every second pass because you're pushing in opposite directions with each pass. This way though the strip eventually wears down at least its TDC.

When they laid down the asphalt on my driveway (when I wasn't home) as a bonus they put little curbs on the edges thinking it would direct rain run-off. Well thank you but, and I quote:

"Did I ask for curbs? Noooo. Now I can't blow snow right to the edge of the driveway!"

Another trick is to knock off the slush bunnies before pulling into the garage because they're usually infested with salt so they melt and help get rid of tire tracks next time you shovel...

And so on...

i helped my sister shovel in Denver once. then i just kept going doing her elderly neighbors place. i was whooped. it was so cold, but i had this hot sweaty sheen under my puffy jacket and i was wheezing like a old man. that crap is a workout!!

thank goodness i had some beer stuffed into the snow.

shoveling snow sucks. using free snow to chill beer..rocks!

i would need a smaller shovel..

(i actually need snow shovel for my yard leaves)

Around here not clearing the sidewalk is a fine.

Because us northerners have to deal with laws and fines if the snow ain't gone from sidewalks by 8am.

Try to push snow and always downhill.
When the shovel is full, hop into the clean channel for the rest of the journey to the dump site.
If the snow is heavy I do the part closest to the pile first and then further back.
A lightweight shovel using small scoops is the easiest way to lift onto the pile.
Always push whenever possible and only what is viable. Conditions vary.
Once you break it up into a pattern it gets easier.

I clicked the OP's link. Says it's not available in my store so I guess I don't need one.

It was 88* here yesterday.

For the really cold dry snow I use the leaf blower to clear the truck and deck. If it's not too deep of course.
