Call Vladimir and ask him for a discount. The most he can say is no. Then you just hold out for the next sale. SmileWavy

It is a quality precision product that changes the driving experience. I’m glad I purchased at the sale price, knowing what I know now I would purchase at full asking price.

I'm also interested in a round version that's not to thick.

shifter shape

If you guys are looking at the shifter shape instead of driving you are probably going too slow.Ha HaSmileWavy

Installed the Numeric Racing short throw shifter with 2.5mm spring this AM. The install did not require adjustments to the shifter as supplied by Numeric. It took less than 10 minutes from start to finish and testing it in driveway. I did not use the supplied shift linkage as the Stomski product installed a few years ago is working fine.
First time I have used a short shift kit so no comparison except to the original shifter which had character but I think "aged" the drive train. This one works very well - zero movement of shifter unless one is engaging it to change gears. The shifts from 2 to 3 and back to 2 - are amazingly quick and accurate.

I really do hope Numeric is really watching this thread. I would like to get one in the next couple of months, yet the shape and style of the shifter is a no go for me. It would look great in a new car or straight race car where style is not that important, yet with a old G-body its like putting mustang rims on a model A. Just not appropriate for the time period.

I installed the Numeric shifter a few months ago on my 86 Carrera and I did not like the standard shifter springs, as I felt there was too much tension so I simply removed one of the springs and couldn't be happier.

Serge

How is it holding up with that one spring?

I have a Numeric on my 996 GT3. Love it, goes without saying. Great to look at and build quality seems topnotch that is backed by function and performance.

As an aside ,on my 75 Carrera I want to retain the factory experience - including the long throws and the feel of easing it into gear that goes with the old shifter. Same idea as I toy around with maybe installing the KW's someday...which wouldn't be too much of a radical change as compared to a shifter.

So the 915-Numeric is in use some while.

Question for you: do you notice that the tower is flexing quite a bit under load while shifting?
Not sure if its a "bug" or a "feature".

I'd suggest Numeric makes a shifter tower without all these triangular cutouts to stiffen this unit.

It looks too solid to flex with shifting. Could it be the mounting in the tunnel flexing instead, it’s only thin steel after all?

It'd be hard to beat a Rennshift system....I suspect they operate much alike...there is no 'slop' in my shifter with hard bushings in the coupler.

I’m not an engineer nor do I have one of these shifters, but it seems the seam at each side of the tower would lend itself to some flex?

Yes, I have noticed slight flex in the tower. Doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Just installed mine a few minutes ago and couldn't be happier. Installing was easy and tweaking is fairly easy if you follow Vlad's video instructions. Shifts now feel great and seem hard to misshift. Going into fifth gear is rewarding and there is a "click" that lets you know its engaged.
Anyone on the fence just get it you will not regret it
