can anyone tell me any additional info on this motor? Is it numbers matching? sorry I can't access the type at the moment.

6550043 is type 911/44 165HP for 911S US Calif. so at least it is an S and not the 150HP 911 engine
#43 out of 1783, so very low. It almost seems out of place for the VIN, but it is difficult to know for sure without contacting PCNA and asking.

From the RED book:

The engine (6280001-on) was for a 911SC US 49 State fitted to a 1978, VIN: 9118200001-9118202436

Your VIN is a 1980 911SC US within the range 91A0140001-91A0144272 witch would be fitted with 930/07 (6300001-on)

Note to self: djpateman is on on Sunday night...

Thanks for confirming. I'm not surprised at the engine swap but was hoping for a numbers matching setup.

Hi, new on here and I posted elsewhere just before, but it looks like this is where I should be. I am Australia based and have a South African delivered 69t coupe non-matching numbers. The engine in the cars number is 6522602 and I am trying to identify it. It currently has mfi and I am also trying to determine if by chance the mfi came with the engine. Any help much appreciated. Many thanks.
