930.101.103.4R
its 78/79 SC, which i believe is correct. the engine number is just random. why someone would stamp it with a random non matching number, instead of leaving it blank, i dont know. the only other suspect thing is that the 930/06 kind of looks like theres a 9 that was ground off under the "/" . Almost like the 930/06 was restamped too. ![]() ![]()

It looks like it might have been a blank case with random numbers stamped. The case is certainly far later than 1968.

They must have lost their "6" stamp that day

I was hoping some of the masters here could help me out. I have a 1980 911sc and we had a motor swap done in 1997....well we lost all the paperwork in our move and I don't know what we have in her now. She is not running, We live in California and was informed I that if the motor in her now is not an original Cal/CARB approved motor I should not bother with a rebuild. The number I pulled is:
64J02422...the J may be a 1 but it looks closer to a J. Thank you all in advance for the help. The car was my dads and passed to me when he got a 90 C2. We are going to attempt to get her running if possible before his 73 birthday in October. |

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure its not a 3 Liter as I loved that engine all the way to 429,714 miles-this engine has the FI system/config of the 3.2 Carreras unless its a Frankenmotor of some type.I do remember having to get the transaxle cut to fit sensors so that leads me more to the 3.2 camp. I guess I need to call Parts Heaven and see what Al can come up with. Thanks again!

What photos are you needing? Are you looking for the airbox? Its on the passenger side with the airfilter located inside. Its a square filter not the rectangle like I had with the 3.0. I do remember the flapper valve my dad had Bob Grimsby at RMG in sunnyvale add to keep the air box from blowing up.Tell me what you want shots of. I should be able to get it this weekend.

A pic of the Engine Type (close to where the Serial # is). Engine Bay from the top, close up of the distributor, manifold and air box.
The more the better.

Mystery solve...
Since it definitely a 3.2 by looking at the photos, i decided to check Wayne's book. Serial # 64J02422 is a 1988 3.2 liters Type 930/25 217 hp @ 5900 Rpm 264 lb-ft @4800 Rpm Some one replace the normal filter to a cone one. No power gain but it does cleanup the engine bay.

engine numbers
I know what it is....2.2 S and I am looking for it 6301329.
Last seen on a thread here many years ago (maybe) in an SC. Help would be appreciated. Could be anywhere, or in anything. May be disguised and wearing carbs instead of MFI. ![]() Speedo |

Numbers, numbers
Hi all - any help much appreciated on this one... I'm hoping to expand the garage beyond the 356 and am looking at a 1970 911T. The vendor has told me it is a US delivered car and imported back to Europe with matching numbers (although not in the original colour). He has provided the following information:
Engine: 6106153 Chassis: 9110100369 Transmission: 911 01 7103702 I took a look online and the chassis number stacks up. However, from my reading of the chart at the following link the engine seems to be for a Sportmatic from 1970. Unfortunately there is no Certificate of Authenticity... On discussion this way and assuming the numbers have been correctly provided, thoughts are this might be a US delivered 1970 911T Sporto with original engine but converted gearbox to a manual... I'm afraid I don't have the Red Book - any help really appreciated... Porsche 911 C- und D-Modell 1970/71 Many thanks
