Check the degrease!
Degrease effort over the last couple of weekends.
BEFORE: ![]() AFTER: ![]() This was achieved with CitraForce degresant, with a lot of scrubbing with a toothbrush / scouring pad, followed by a cloth, then a good clean with Autosol. My partner thinks I am crazy. Go figure. |

![]() Tried to get the rear silencer looking good too, polished up the flanges and bolts on the flange. So you get that 'bling bling' look when viewing the car from behind. The question is, why on earth do I do this. For some reason, I love lying under the car polishing it up. |

Looks nice!
Now to keep an I out to see if there may be a small oil leak. Some of the test stuff for cleaning is a non-flammible brake cleaner made by Castle.

Looks pretty nice.
You may want to paint the muffler. I got nice results from the Por-15 flat black high temp exhaust paint. I painted it on and started the engine in short runs to slowly cure it.

I like the coppery patina of nice hot Monty better than black paint...
[Note that does NOT refer to a full monty...]

I'll probably get flamed for suggesting this but...
Wouldn't a rented pressure washer - used carefully of course, save you a LOT of time hogging off the gobbed on hunks of dried grease? Then AFTER that you could do the degreaser, toothbrush, scouring pad thing but it would take a fraction of the time. Again, I only suggest careful use of the pressure washer.

Uh...........er..................Gee, I guess I don't see the correlation. But if you equate the work of removing grease from your 911 to the "work" of foreplay with your wife..............well, I guess that says something about your level of affliction with the Porsche disease.............either that or ...guess I'd better not say it. Enjoy

A powered two handed rotary wire brush set on "stun" will give the muffler a gud shine.....best to remove it an fix it to a vise.....wear goggles, gloves and have beer handy.

latest degrease pics...
still doing this degrease, on and off. Found some leaks around 2 oil return tubes so replaced those. Also, I degrease around the control arms / cv joints near the wheel
![]() ![]() I also had a go inside the wheel arch and found the black stuff comes off to reveal white underneath. Is is safe to remove this stuff in lieu of corrosion protection? I thought this might be a good idea to keep an eye out for rust, but it would be a lot of work to get all that black stuff off...

Do a search...all the "black stuff" in the wheel wells does come off. Then you've got to repaint the wheel wells in the body color. Easy to do in your case with white. Personally I would do it but most would say why bother in the wheel wells? I've got the same OCD you do, so I plan on doing mine. My car is Sahara Beige though so finding a match in a butter yellow will be tough. If I were you I'd use spray cans in there. I will if I can find anything close in my color.

ARRRGH! repainting the wheel wells is far too much hassle. I think I will leave the black stuff on. In fact, I think I will give up on the degrease too.
