Friend of mine and I did an engine swap once. First one we ever tried. Worked deep into the night getting it done. Put everything in place, checked everything, in the drivers seat and fire it up. Caught straight away and roared into life. 'Turn it off turn it off turn it off' was the scream.
Screwed the oil pressure sender unit into an unused thread blank. The actual hole was about an inch to the left. Several litres of fresh oil ejected in seconds. Fixed it up, refilled the oil, off she went. We were so excited we set off for a test drive hood less. Still remember the stupid grins reflecting the instrument glow, seeing the throttle linkages on the dual side drafts working in the moonlight. High fives as the swap had transformed the car. You'll laugh and laugh at this one as the years go by. I do hope you grabbed Somme pictures. |

Can't remember if it was, but it did go to a good cause - a beautiful black Carrera in B.C..

i can relate. When j first got back into 911's it had been so long I forgot that when checking oil the car should be running. I kept adding oil bc it wouldn't read on the stick. Needless to say, when I finally did start it, the motor proceeded to puck oil, and lots of it all over my nice new driveway. Not fun!

WOW...I remember this thread from years ago. Titanium lugs, right? Congrats!
And I see the center fill gas tank. You decide against cutting up the hood or is that an homage to some 911 variant I am unfamiliar with?

I am speechless.
I nominate this thread for a how to-do restoration sticky. Do you have any book offers yet from any publishers?
