I was 20 when I bought my first pcar. It was my obsession to own one. It was a 1987 944. Then a 944 turbo. 84 911,95 993,90 964,87 944t,87 944t, and now a track prepped 78 sc with a 3.2 with carbs. I'm 35 now and still obsessed with porsches!

It was 1975 and I was 23 years old. I bought a 1955 Speedster for $2700 with what the seller told me was a locked up motor. After spending a Saturday on it, it turned out to only be a bad starter.

25 when the 1985 944 lured me in. Only a few months later I bought a '75 911 project car. It was a slippery slope very early on!

I was 26 when I bought a 924.
I sold it less than a year later and swore I would never own another "overpriced Audi powered Volkswagen piece of crap". I was 37 when I bought my 911. I love that overpriced Volkswagen.

Ha!
I was 19 when I bought my first 911. Was supposed to by a 914 but when the 67 Soft Window Targa came up for sale for the same money I couldn't resist. Although I was aware of the pitfalls of an early 911, new exactly what to look for, and most of the danger signs were there. I was smitten and I bought that beeatch anyway!! I enjoyed it.. rusty front pan, rockers, and heat exchangers for a full month, came to my senses and traded it to a used car dealer (because it was rare) for a schweet 65 E-Type coupe! I sold the E-Type three years later and made enough to pay for a year of college and purchase a 70 911T w/S trim! Ummm, that was roughly 40 air cooled Porsches ago! (2-914, 3-356, flat-6 for the rest) P-

36 the first Porsche --started down the 944 road -drove a 911 and that was that.
Had done the muscle car- sportscar progression --three Dodge Challengers, a coupla Vettes and then the 911. with an ongoing assortment of GT Mustang, Miata and old pick-ups sharing the garage with my 911 - which everytime I think of selling -I drive it and that ends that line of thought Mono

18 and a 58 A coupe, funny thing is I dont remember what got me hooked on 'needing" the 356 coupe, and the crazy thing is I bought a 616 motor about a year before that knowing I wanted one of those cars. Then found one in desprate need of restoration, yes less motor.
Regards BTW I almost passed on your poll do to your spelling |

23. Owned that car for just over five years. Bought my first 911 at 28. The next ten years would see an average of 1.2 different Porsches a year. Sadly, now I have none...

I bought a 1970 914 at age 20 as a daily driver. It had been mostly restored by the PO... The nicest, straitest rust free 914 I've ever laid eyes on to this day. Save for pictures of really *****en 6cyl conversions. Needless to say, I didn't have it very long. It nickel and dimmed me into submission after a year of love/hate. Supper fun car to drive though.

15. Bought a 356A for $3200. Great car, but a total beater with 400K miles on it. No, I don't still have it, but of course, I wish I did...

Was 20--bought a '63 Carrera 2 from a rich-kid neighbor for $3,600 in 1970. VGC, new paint, no real body issues. However it soon needed what turned out to be a complete engine rebuild. Norbert Nislony in Belmont CA did that, including then-available factory P&Cs, for $2,600. That was all very big money for a college student back then, and I had to borrow the money from my sister just to pay for the rebuild. Of course I now realize what a fool I was for selling it about a year later--but I just couldn't afford it. A guy traded me his '67 beetle plus $1,000 for it. Pretty good deal, huh? But a tune up/valve adj. required engine-out and cost $350--at a time when a tank of gas in my bug cost $8. Fast-forward several decades and I'm back into P cars again. Do I wish I still had it? Yes, mightily. But I've got an '85 930 that I'm passionatly in love with. We move on.

I was 19 when I ordered my new 1974 914 2.0. I knew way more about the 914 than all the salesmen put together. I knew exactly what I wanted and they ended up taking 6 months to get my car delivered to the Montgomery Alabama VW Porsche dealer. I took delivery on Friday September 13th 1974 and 12:15 PM. I brought it back Monday morning with 608 miles on it for the first scheduled maintenance.
I paid $6,750.00 for it new. I did not have room for it after I bought my current 911 so I had to sell it after 21 years. I miss that car.

1968....I was 17 and bought a 66 911. Every penny I had saved plus money borrowed from mom & dad. Working part time and going to school. After several speeding tickets (big bucks) which meant higher insurance premiums (bigger bucks) I made the decision to quit college and work full time to pay for the car, tickets and insurance. Fifteen Porsches later, don't regret a thing!

i just bought my 1981 euro 911sc at age 58.
i confess that, my whole life, i always thought rear spoilers were dorky. then i bought a 1987 merkur xr4ti about 18 months ago. the rear spoiler was so odd, it appealled to me. ![]() ...thin edge of the wedge...got attracted to outrageous spoilers/wings. one thing led to another, and i soon fell for this flirt on ebay... ![]() moral of the story...never say never...

My first one was a 1966 912 purchased from Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville in 1972 for the princely sum of $2,200. I was 22.
A year later I almost bought a 1966 Ferrari 275GTB for $5,100 that had been traded to a local Lincoln-Mercury dealership for a new Pantera. I passed because I figured the maintenance costs would be prohibitive. O, to have a time machine...
