Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

Got the turnsignal boards assembled. Since I have US (red) turnsignals, I'm tapping into the side running light so the turnsignal LEDs can be on gently at all times when driving at night to increase the visual footprint at the rear.
Since I've removed the side marker bulbs to tap into the running lights, the 2 columns of LEDs to the left are now the marker lights. The next 2 columns of LEDs are turnsignal LEDs and are perpendicular to the board to face to the side of the car. The rest of the LEDs are turnsignal and will point directly to the rear of the car. ![]() The fit in the turnsignal bucket is very good. I made a couple of mock-up PCB shapes on my 3d printer to get it right. The boards provide a good bit of light with just the running lights on which is what I was looking for. I'll try to get some pics at night for comparison with existing bulbs.

Jerry,
I received the brake lights last week but haven't had a chance to install yet. Can't wait to add the LED turn signals once I get the brake lights in. Jeff |

The price for a pair of brake LEDs is $90. I made 1 set for my car and 3 sets to see that they fit in other cars. Once I hear back from the 3 people that the boards fit, are easily installed, and work well, I'll make some more.
As far as timing, not sure when we'll do a batch run of boards. We're finishing up a run of 914 brake and turnsignal boards and I need to take a break to build an engine for my 914. |

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm curious to see how the first couple of sets of brake lights install and fit in other's cars. Already found out that one of the position frames didn't survive shipping. I sent extra pieces just in case. I'll have to do a better job of packing these things. I have to redesign the frames to be more sturdy.
I am going to make another small run of 6 sets to make sure these fit before doing a big run. My 930 now has LED brake and turnsignal boards. Since I have US (red) turnsignals, the turnsignals are connected to the running lights so the turnsignal LEDs are on gently for a greater visual footprint at night. I had to replace the original flasher as the turnsignals hyper-flashed at 2x the normal rate with the LEDs. The EP36 flasher available at Autozone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys is a drop-in replacement. Here's a video of my 930 at night with the running lights on going from left side to rights side, then behind the car with turnsignals with running lights on, then turnsignals with running lights off. Trying to video lights at night seems useless as the light really washes out the video. Here it is anyway. Last edited by spoke; 05-14-2015 at 08:45 PM.. |

Good to hear. Let me know how it installs and works. Remember to check the lights before mounting them. You can check them with the parking lights on. I had a lot of trouble with the sockets on my car. The sockets were very oxidized and the LED boards wouldn't light up. Took about 3 times cleaning the sockets and contacts before the LEDs lit up reliably.
When testing the LEDs, jiggle the bulb base in the socket. If the LEDs flicker at all, you will need to clean the socket. Once the LEDs stay lit reliably, you can do the final install. |
