Shift linkage question - should this bolt be tight???

In this thread from rennlist:

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?threadid=48566&highlight=shift+linkage

Should the bolt that is safety wired, that holds the shift linkage to the shaft from the transmission be tight???

I have quite a bit of play in my shifter (I have the Autothority short shifter as well) and I checked the linkage today and that bolt was a few turns loose! (no safety wire either!).

Should it be tight, or not??

Thanks,

As I recall I made sure it was snug and blue loctite on top of that..........and the airplane wire.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?
