As per usual, I'm in need of assistance on what should be a relatively easy procedure. After a bottle of DayQuil today, I went to mount the grill. And since nothing can ever be easy, it would appear the vertical struts sent to me from 928Intl are too big. Everything went together well, and looked good (see pic in post on previous page). However, when I went to mount it, I lined up the bottom holes, and the top ones were nowhere near where they should be. Any thoughts?
![]() I attached one of the bottom bolts ![]() Bottom center hole is lined up ![]() Top center hole is nowhere close Tell me I'm missing something stupid...

I too have the 928 Intl aftermarket Grill supports, they fit fine. The thing is that most 928's have broken front spoilers because they smashed into curbs or parking lot curb stops. Not only do they break the spoiler to hell, they bend the crap out of the lower metal support. I had to take a long pole and feed it through the front of the ac condenser (I think) and take a BFH (Big Freakin Hammer) to smash it back down. It looks like this is where your issue lies and your pics kinda proves it.

I'll have to build up some aggression and get it done then. Which car was that on?

if you can post a picture of the front bumper it will be easy to tell if you need to replace the front bumper shocks,
if they are pushed in then the new grill struts wont line up as the bumper is pushed into the chassis

Merlin's suggestion may be it. The heights seem ok, the holes are just an inch or two back. I'll post a few bumper pics in the morning. The car has never been in a collision, however my brother did back into it years ago. At that point the grill was already rigged up after the snow bank had its way. He did a number on the license plate, but the bumper always looked ok. I guess he could have pushed the shocks in. How much of a PITA are those to replace?

the front cover comes off then 2 bolts per shock hold them to the chassis is it was pushed or otherwise hit in the front then the shocks are prolly crunched they are one time use ,
installing good used shocks will fill the bill, do some shopping and you can find them for about 50.00 for a set

Here's a few more pics of the bumper. At closer inspection, it does look like some of it has been pushed back. Time to start hunting for bumper shocks I guess. I'm hoping to go round 2 with the tank later.
![]() ![]() Is this gap supposed to be there? ![]() Even the lights are sunk in a little. Same on the other side.

definitely need new bumper shocks.
NOW that said you may be able to pry one back to full extension. However it will offer no resistance if the bumper gets hit thus crushing the fender edges if the hit is strong. That said if your gonna take off the PU cover put good shocks back on, leave the grill off till this is done so you dont crack the new grill supports

when the shocks are good the lights will sit back about 1 inch from the front edge of the PU cover here they are about 3 to 4 inches back

In the many shocks i have replaced,
only 2 of them were able to be pried back to close to full extension, and i did this with a BFV and two big prybars . NOTE prying on the car will usually rip out or otherwise bend metal thats not damaged

I'd prefer to just do it right and pop on some new (used) ones. Used are listed for $50 each on 928intl. I'm going to look around a little more and see what I can find elsewhere. That's a job for another day. I got the tank soaking with round 2 as we speak so while that's marinating, I'm going to move on to the fuel lines. All my replacement parts are in so once the tank is clean, I can pop it back in.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'd truly be lost without this forum.

Well, this project just got a lot longer...the injector rails came off with relatively no problems. Then I moved to the line that comes from the tank. The only way I could get at it was from underneath. While counterholding it, it 'snapped' similar to the other bolts that have never been turned before. It didn't break, it felt like that first bit when they finally come loose, then they turn relatively easily, and it was, but I realized it wasn't actually coming off. So I took a look from the top...
![]() Yup, the hard line that comes from the back twisted. I'm still not able to counterhold it and get enough leverage to turn it loose and I'm now at a loss. I may be in a little over my head on this one. How the hell do I fix this?? On a high note, the tank is looking better.

find someone parting out an old car and buy the line.
NOTE usually you can use a dremel to cut the metal swages off the old line, then leave the fittings in place then replace the fuel line . USE PB blaster on the hose connections if you decide to unscrew them , also use anti seize on any connection you take apart

Just to be sure, the line I'm going to have to replace is #27 on the diagram, correct? Auto Atlanta has it for $95 which is actually cheaper than I thought it would be. I'm gonna keep shopping around and see what I find.
