Thank you for making that video! Looking good! Watching that makes me want to go out and drive!
I haven't gotten around to doing anything with sound or video yet but sure want to.
I'd like to do a stationary vid of a holeshot and then one from a car following behind me at 50mph so I can shift down and blow away the tires! I've got to capture that glorious sound on boost as well. I don't know how high you guys can take your engines but you should hear this thing at 7000rpm! WOW!

I'm using a clip-on microphone from Radioshack and have been attaching it to various areas around the window.

Agreed with driving at higher RPMs. My drive in the video was restrained, but shows that the exhaust is fun to listen to even when your not pushing it.

Stephanie,

Sounds great! There was some seriously bad driving going on in front of you near the exit!! Almost got to hear full lock-up?

Brian

When you say 7000rpms, is your car still making HP and torque at that level??? Plus, are you a little worried??

No, what I see on the dyno is the headers now extend the 7200 power band an extra 500rpm to 6000rpm before dropping off. My engine was rebuilt 10 years ago with ARP head studs and rod bolts; it also has a 915 tranny. The tires can light up in second. I short-shift first to avoid that but second is less predictable as to the severity of the wheel spin. Sometimes the tires just "haze" and sometimes they light up in an instant which of course buries the tach immediately. I can usually catch it before the engine hits the rev limiter. The sound at that RPM is incredible! Wish I could drive it sustained at that RPM, ha!
I am concerned about adding the HFS turbo at this point. As we near 400WHP 2nd gear will become dangerous and 3rd will likely haze as the power will continue to climb past 6000RPM and right through redline if I let it. I know my rev limiter works but really cringe when it kicks in at ~7100rpm. I'll have to treat 2nd gear the way I do 1st right now. I'm also looking into a way to lower the boost past 6000rpm for safety.

I don`t know which WBO2 system you are running, with my Zeitronix I can set
the software alarm trigger to switch a relay.
How to reduce boost with that you know better than I can describe in english.

I'm sure there is an easy way to reduce boost at a set RPM, haven't done my homework on that just yet.

Yes I would love to get some video and put it on my website. The site needs a face lift and that would be a pretty cool intro.

Isn't this exactly what a programmable electronic boost controller does? Map in what you want boost to be at a specific RPM in a table and it opens the wastegate to keep the turbo spinning at the correct RPM to match your boost map. Some even allow maps to be set for specific gears and other variables.

There are numerous aftermarket manufacturers of these units.

Yes!

Some stand alone boost controllers, and many ECUs can do this...

I should have qualified it by saying "cheaply"...but, very true. There are also lots of dedicated solutions from makers like HKS and GReddy.

I originally posted a video of Brian's exhaust system and I was not happy with the audio. Today, I made another to replace the old one. I think the audio is better because the mic is routed through the engine department. Just wanted to share what I enjoy so much; driving my cars!

Nice!
I've got a decent video camera but need an adjustable roll bar mount/stalk. Where is the best place to buy?

For those that have been following my "RSR Update" thread - I haven't had a chance to update the thread for a while as I have been too busy working on the RSR - but I couldn't help myself to give a bit of an indication of what I have been up to lately.

The headers look and fit exceptionally well - thanks to Brian and Ben for some outstanding work.

Richard.
