Thank you, sir!

Looking good Kenik. I bet you can't wait to get behind the wheel of that beast.
Are you still planning on a respray back to the original color ? I've been slaving away on my house so, mine's exactly a you last saw it.:( |
Fully planning on bringing it back to original. In a related story, I discovered that my car's twin, #520 (My car being #521), was built to the exact same spec. Even better, the car is in concours, original condition and the owner has been kind enough to offer me photos of any detail I want, to ensure I get it all right. An amazing stroke of luck!

Gorgeous color, what is it called?
|
Kenik, I really like yer AC/DC coating on the tail and wastegate pipes - ceramic? I've been tempted to do the same (mine are natural stainless, currently).
|
Ronnie, yes, ceramic.
Chris, the color is Sienna Metallic. A custom order color from the back catalog in '79. |
Great picture.
Sienna Metallic is #436 in year 76-77 e.g. like Les Pauls 76 on this forum (from POTD thread) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1432924891.jpg I am not sure whether it was only available 76-77, but as being custom ordered on the car above in 79 it might just be |
Test fitting = PROGRESS!!! :)

You might want to consider ceramic coating the hot side turbo housing as well while you have the motor out. It'll help protect it from rusting.
|
I had considered, but then decided not to. Oil works fine. :)
|
Great luck, and gorgeous twin. Will you be using sugar scoops or keeping the H1's?
|
What?.....no fancy colors, no red fan, no polished stainless?
Nice and clean, I like it! |

And the wiring harness is really starting to come together. Had a plate made for the Molex plugs, painted & mounted it (we had to make sure it would fit where planned, hence the engine mock-up) and separated the wires into three bundles (Ignition, Accessories & F.I.) and pulled the through the connectors. The hope is to have the engine compartment pinned down by tomorrow.

Kenik,
I am really digging this project. The engine is ...........subdued...yet crazy. Is this close enough to done to make an appearance at the JWW swap? al |
^ There's a puncher's chance...this car WILL be going to Rennsport V, for sure.
|
Speaking of subdued Al - it has always been my MO. My goal with this motor was for stock looks in every capacity possible, with all of the benefits of modern engine management and performance know how. I'm still planning on going the FrankenCIS route, as well as eventually wanting to get the single plug dizzy operational, but still firing a second set of plugs. in that timeframe, I'll even probably go back to a stock IC...first with an assist from water meth injection and even possibly with a water/air recore using Laminova components.
BUT, we will walk before we run, yes? :D |
