Nice! Boy those PMO's sure look a lot simpler than the webers!

Tyson Schmidt 07-01-2003 09:41 PM

Just thought that I should inform you that you installed your cylinders UPSIDE DOWN!!!!!!!!

The long cooling fins go on the bottom, not the top!!!!!!

Hope I told you soon enough!

Type961 07-02-2003 12:05 AM

Hi Tyson,
Where did you see the cylinders ?
The engine looks not to be assemblied yet ?!

Luc.

phe 07-02-2003 12:05 AM

Tyson,

There are not yet installed, it was just for the pictures.

But good to know!!

Sorry ! I see... :o
I didn't know this tip, I use the letters on cyl. to check the orientation.
This is a good easy-to-check tip... thanks ;)

phe 07-02-2003 01:16 AM

just looked at the picture, the complete engine is upside down, so cylindres were correct:D :D :D :D

Normally, the mount of the engine will be done today and the precision setup of the cams,clearence,... will be done tomorrow.

Actually the motor is right side up in the pictures with the cylinders on page 3 and the cylinders are upside down as Tyson stated. No big deal though since it's not assembled yet. Just make sure the long fins face down when the motor is assembled.

What profile cams are you going with?

phe 07-02-2003 02:01 AM

2.4S cams, I had to change the mount part for the cams also

Good catch Tyson.

Phe, I agree with Tyson, they were upside down!

Your mechanic seems to have his own way of assembling things. Is this his first 911 motor?

Oil return tubes? I can't see them but maybe it's the angle.
-Chris
EDIT: From the last picture, it looks like you caught it. (Cam tower looks like it was removed...) BTDT :D

Chris, at least you must admit this is an extremely OPEN way to work. He got good reference. You will have to be more precise. If this is for the engine stand, who care.
