sunroof sound/vibration baffles

The 2 original baffles between the headliner and the sunroof motor are toast. The fiber boards are moisture damaged and the foam is falling apart.

Ordered 2 new ones from our host and was told they are not available from anywhere, so I'm making my own outta aluminum and bio foam that will be moisture proof!

New Window Gaskets

While waiting for injectors, sensors and wire harness before I can fire up the motor I'm still working on an interior refresh and I gotta say that no matter what folks charge to install new window gaskets it's not enough!
I used soapy water which helped a little, but to get the trim in I had to use some 100% silicone grease. 1 window down and 3 to go:rolleyes:

Old rubber is the worst, especially when the ambient temps are not too hot.

Front window was replaced along with the gasket back in the early 2000's so that one will hopefully not be as bad as the others.

If they give you trouble put them in an oven set around 100 degrees. When you go to pop them in that way the rubber will be much more compliant when you do.

defroster vent cover

Anybody know why this thing is painted brown? I think I'll paint it brown again unless it should be black?

Perhaps it faded to where it appears brown?

proffighter 12-13-2011 10:36 PM

Maybe because the car had brown interieur from factory;)

CaptainCalf 12-14-2011 04:50 AM

After ripping out what seemed like 25 year old black carpet and headliner I'm pretty sure the original factory color was black w/o looking it up, so looks like the defroster vent cover faded to look brown...I'll paint it black again.

Pressed in the new tranny bell crank bushings and picked up the freshly powder coated satin black roll bars. Now I just need to find time to finish the interior before the rest of the engine parts get here:rolleyes:
