I'd like to see pictures of the tabs and example of cracking. Has anyone here also experienced it?
Yes, I can't let this thread die yet!

Oh, I'd *love* to see an example, or have some idea how to identify which bike serial numbers are affected... basically some way to go up to a prospective purchase and know if the problem is lurking, and whether or not (if it exists, or manifests later) there's some good way to deal with it... like knowing if BMW will actually fix it or if I'd have to shell out large bucks to fix it myself. If any PP member knows for sure, now's the time to pony up!
Maybe there should be a new thread... I should do a thorough seach of the board too. Maybe I can dig up something. It'll at least give me something to do.

For the maybe one or two of you still reading this hijacked-out shell of a thread... (my first thread gets 200+ replies. F33R 1T)
Haven't found anything new about the cracking transmissions really, except as I read each and every bike description over on the R1100S registry*, I noticed that there were a handful of bikes that said that their trans cases had cracked, but they were under warranty at the time so BMW cheerfully swapped the gearboxes. As a total guess, I'm thinking that the BMW of Atlanta guy was who Shannon referenced earlier about the issue... he might know something. Makes the 2004 $10,700 R1100SAs I'm seeing seem like a decent deal, what with the twin spark and better trans and warranty and all. Make mine blue or silver... not giving up on the '99 just yet, just doing some good ol' fashioned waffling. * I TOLD you I had a lot of time on my hands...

Yeah, between you waffling on the S and me dicking around on what'll probably be a Rockster, we're driving 'em crazy around here
.------------- Akron OH Beacon Journal: Posted on Sat, Dec. 18, 2004 Deal approved on Diebold suit A court approved a settlement Friday between California and Diebold Inc. of Green to resolve a lawsuit over its touch-screen voting machines. As previously disclosed, the settlement is a $2.6 million payment to the state, including a $100,000 payment to Alameda County and $500,000 for voter education and poll-worker training. Expenses related to the case, including the cost of recertifying Diebold's touch-screen machines, legal and other fees, were included in the company's third quarter results. The case had an impact of 5 cents per share. The company also anticipates a charge of 1 cent per share in the fourth quarter. -------------- Mind you, I don't *like* that deal, I think it's nowhere near high enough...but as one of the original whistleblowers my "cut" will be between $75,000 and $150,000, possibly more. Should get it in January. Not that bad for my first time out as a "Corporate bounty hunter" .

Congratulations! That's very cool. Hopefully my windfall (considerably more humble) will come wednesday. Maybe by February when its REALLY good and cold, we'll be able to have our respective bikes just in time to not ride them. Man alive... never thought I'd miss Texas so much, but gosh its cold in NC today!

.The entire geek community has realized how screwed up Diebold is. By pure dumb luck, here's today's (Dec. 20th) "Userfriendly" in which a tech support guy is talking to Santa: http://ars.userfriendly.org/ |

Jim a very calm response because of the christmas spirit...;-)
Your cold and totally inhumane remarks about Dresden sparked that answer... So 250000 people deserved to die by not able to breathe and burn because it was neccessary to stop the jewish-commist-ally not to go any further west.It was the peoples own mistake because they did not have the guts to take out Hitler with a high powered rifle? You must read to many cheap books or listen to talk radio.Did you know that 90% of the 250000 people that died through that anglo-american war crime and were comsumed by the flames where women, children and old people, and most of them refugees from eastern europe who already had lost everything and were the few remaining having survived the raping killing zionist-commie Red Army?!Remember the famous speech of General Patton after the war was over in the synagoge? We fought the wrong people he said. Two weeks later he was dead,of course it was an accident... I hope one day you don't sit on the receiving end because somebody else and his interest and or ideology deems it necessary to include you into the colleteral damage... Dock hope you find the right S after all but the political detour was caused by a paranoid hebrew with no sense of humour after all... I doubt if anyone would have said anything if the same individual would have made a catholic or nunn joke...But that is how they are;preach "tolerance" and p.c.ism but react in a totally detrimental way if a goim (non believer) has the audacacy to take their same "godgiven" rights... As for the palestinians;everyone who rejects their rights to protect themselves against their oppressors had to argue that the partisans had no right to defend themselves against the german occupiers either... There is some interesting information for all who are interested in those things without our media bias to find under www.globalfire.tv and www.radioislam.org But anyways Merry Christmas to everybody (Hope I don't have anyone offended with this one..;-) as last week some jewish studend stole the baby jesus out of some private crip exibition and was caught with it two blocks down the road with it in Chicago as was on the news.He found it offensive... At least he was honest instead of all those judaeo-christianity oxymoronists... Happy 2005 where hopefully the people of palestine and iraq will find peace, too! Chris |

Dear Hijackers: Please to be stopping. Discover PMs for a continued dialogue, or stormfront, or jpfo, or whoever makes you feel good about your ideologies. Please? If not, pass the bong. I mean, pass the enchiladas. Yeah. Love, hugs and puppies- J. Dock

I wish I could buy a new bike. (Just for the thrill of the purchase!)

No fake, also for the thrill of stuff like a warranty, and the personal satifaction that a canisterectomy brings.
Other not so pleasant thrills include increased poverty, bike payments, wacky insurance, and worrying about voiding the warranty.

the quote:
'They redesigned the tabs that mount the tranny to the frame. ' this is different than the redesigned FRAME mounts, or am I missing the gist of it? the transmission case has redesigned mounting tabs AS WELL AS redesigned frame tabs or only the frame tabs are redesigned? Please enlighten. And semi-ot: I'd pay the ticket price to see a matchup between dfaber and chris geuting; something tells me, chris geuting, that you'd be going outta that ring on a stretcher at the least, and maybe a body bag. Geuting, you're a disgrace to the german race and need your mouth shut with a 2X4...you worthless piece-of-schiesa schmuck.
