Love it. Never had one but I've always found them appealing.

I see their point, but I'm in the minority that would buy a 2-door; I like the looks of the concept used in Rampage. Then again, I had a single-cab Dakota and I think it's only fleet sales that keep the single-cab trucks alive.

Nice score! The great thing is you can easily find just about any part you'll ever need for it.

I've had this 76 for 25 years or so now. Started with a 302 that died when the timing chain broke. Pulled a 351W out of a wrecking yard that has lasted forever. Daily drove it for about the first 12 years I had it but just putt around in it now. The 8 mpg can be a limiting factor. What I like about the 76 and 77 Broncos is they came with front disc brakes.

Enjoy!

For the new Bronco, Ford did a teaser placement of a retro boxy two door in Rampage for a reason. I’ll be shocked if the production truck is significantly different. My guess is they offer a two and four door option. Much like the Wrangler they could probably keep both on the same platform, only having new panels for the rear half of the truck.

The "Rampage" film truck is the Brazilian based Ranger, a 2004 concept long dead.

Sure they wanted to get the name out there and people talking but that was it.

I would not call it Bait & Switch, just more exposure for the young folks that have never even seen a Bronco on the road.

The Wrangler 2 and 4 door versions have different wheelbases, it was a huge gamble that paid off. Stacks of hard core buyers that demand short wheelbase 2-door but sales dwindling, even more scores of soccer moms opened up a new 4-door Wrangler market and saved the Jeep.

Like everyone else in the forum a 2-door Bronco with short wheelbase is desired by myself, but sales numbers of a longer wheelbase 4-door is driving things. If the profits on the 4-door are there, maybe Ford will eventually produce a 2-door, wait and see but don't hold your breath.

Question is, would Ford tease us with a short wheelbase boxy 2-door under a cover just to initially offer only a 4-door version?

I think that would be terrible of them, but would not be shocked. I doubt people would be so pissed off that they would not buy if they still wanted it.

Short and long wheelbases will beget two- and four-door configurations. Like the Wrangler, the Bronco will have a removable top and doors.

Stick a 289 in that thing and some stock wheels with the mustang wheel covers!

I sold my bronco two years ago and it now resides in west texas…..excellent condition in and out with 302 and automatic! I liked to drive it but it got terrible gas mileage.

A friend of mine in high school had an old Mustang and you could actually see the gas gauge move when we were on the interstate. Then again, gas was like 60 cents a gallon...

Hilariously, he traded it in on a Ford Escort EXP (he loved that thing!).

I was watching the Louisville Mecum auction last night and saw a 66 with a straight six go for $18,500. Don't know what the OP paid but the one at Mecum was stock and not close to as nice looking!

Maybe the Bronco bubble bursting is preceding a Real Estate market crash?

I've only been watching Bronco prices for about 3-4 years now, watched a pretty nice Bronco in Colorado that had nothing more than a rust seem along the bed joint wrong with it for 7k jump up to about 22k in value over a few years.

The same 7k gets you a pile of parts and a VIN number or a rolling frame with a drivetrain - no body.

On the other hand, some of these trucks take years looking for the right buyer to come along, not exactly a liquid asset.

I have never paid much attention to them to have any knowledge of what they go for. $18,500 for one that wasn't anything fancy just struck me like it was a lot of money for the truck.

Same truck a year ago was asking nearly double, but probably not moving at that number. Selling was a matter of taking 5k off original asking price and someone coming along thinking they were getting a great deal.

I was watching International Scout numbers at the same time, story is a lower tiered parallel.

Saving grace for this type of investment, still more liquid than Real Estate in a recession.

The current average value of a first-generation Ford Bronco in perfect condition is $47,025, according to Hagerty, up from $23,400 five years ago. Experts say the increase in average values will continue. Source: Barrett-Jackson

that was 1 yr ago, I tried buying a few last year at Barrett but everyone went for 30k+....

Bronco's of this era along with Jeeps and Toyota Landcruisers would be so cool with a diesel engine transplant . You would get good/great fuel mileage along with fantastic off road torque ! Anyone on here have a diesel conversion or know of one ?

I've been averaging 17 MPG and have no problem keeping up with highway traffic with this 170 since I've removed the rack and all accessories.

I wish my 2012 F250 with a 6.2L modern gas engine would average that.
I get excited when I see 16 mpg highway
